🎥🔥🐉 The Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance - This tradition, alive for 140+ years, fascinated us as filmmakers. It's a cultural spectacle like no other, whether you're a spectator or participant.🎥🔥🐉

In 2021, we documented the painful cancellation of the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance for the second consecutive year due to pandemic restrictions. For these community members, the Dragon is an integral part of their identity, passed down through generations.

Now, with the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance returning, we’re thrilled to share our documentary “The Missing Dragon”. It's a tribute to the resilience of the Tai Hang community.

To those in Hong Kong, we urge you to witness this unique tradition. Better yet, become a part of it next year. It's a fantastic cultural experience. (Fun fact: Hugh Jackman was once invited as a special guest at the 2015 Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance)

We are delighted to announce that SCENE 852 has officially launched in London!

Since the founding of SCENE 852 PRODUCTIONS in Hong Kong back in 2015, we are proud to have produced over 70+ projects across Asia where we have witnessed our crew, cast and client’s joy, hardship, determination and even the start of ideas that have flourished into impactful influences in our society today.

As our journey continues, we believe it is time for us to expand our scope and branch out to London. As an independent film & commercial production house that originated in Hong Kong, we are excited to invite you to our next chapter. We aim to continue sharing our work and ideas through this social media platform.

Whether you are a creator, a spectator, a collaborator, or an enthusiast, we hope our next projects in the UK will continue to spark discussion, creation, imagination and inspiration.

While we will continue working with clients from Asia, we also look forward to meeting and working with new crew, talent and clients from the UK!

A little about DEFY’s Game World:
DEFY is a new awesome move-to-earn AR game based on a near future dystopian world, where an evil corporation, Future Systems, has amassed power that a dictator could only dream of. Privacy and individuality are relics of a bygone era. We are reliant on Future Systems to provide the necessities of life that governments used to control - health, education and money. Future Systems has a mole (Kha0s), an inside man who wants to bring the whole system down from within. Using a hacked version of the Future Systems mobile client, crafted by Kha0s, operatives can utilise backdoors in the Future Systems network to bring them down.

[WATCH] 🎥 Check out this game trailer we recently did at SCENE 852 for a really cool new AR Move-to-Earn NFT-based narrative game, DEFY 💥👾

🎥🏳️‍🌈 Check out the latest video we did with Mox Bank! This month we sat down with Charlz Ng (Co-founder of Hybrid Group & House of Fitness, Gay Games Volunteer) and spoke about learning to be true to himself through his coming out journey. Through this conversation, we discussed about the path towards acceptance and tolerance for the LGBTQ+ community as well as the future of where the movement may be heading towards.

It was a very insightful and inspiring experience for SCENE 852 to hear his story! We are grateful for Charlz for sharing such a personal story and letting us document it 🙏🏻

[ STORYBOARD BREAKDOWN ] ✍🏻🎞🎥
A side-by-side look at our preproduction storyboard plan and the final result for one of the scenes from the “SCENE 852 STORIES” short we released a couple months ago.

The idea behind the “SCENE 852 STORIES” short first began early stages of preproduction when SCENE 852 was first founded in 2015. It was a film that visually tell others the direction SCENE 852 aims to head towards as well as our mission. This preproduction stage was simultaneously running as we took on other clients’ projects, hence the time the film took in the planning stage.

As our company continued growing and taking on more projects throughout the years, we began finding new ways to storyboard faster. This resulted in storyboarding digitally with an iPad, making it faster to duplicate and enlarge the drawings as well as organise the storyboard documents better.

The characters of “The Star-Crossed Lovers” were one of the earlier developments of our preproduction work for this film. Here you can see a rare glimpse of our original hand-drawn storyboards where we use to use a spectrum of pens to draw and shade which we would then move onto photocopying, scanning, cutting and pasting in order to organise everything. This storyboard is a great blast from the past!
