What advice has stuck with you through the years?

We’re inspired by the words of MBE, our 2024 Senior Leader winner in the Arts & Media category – sponsored last year by Wellington Management.

Her speech reminds us to stand tall and demand what we deserve, even when it’s hard.

It’s no secret that the journey for Black professionals can be tough, but we keep pushing forward because we elevate in these times. It’s about resilience, strength, and the power to rise above the obstacles in front of us.

Why it matters: According to the British Business Bank, just 0.24% of venture capital in the UK went to Black entrepreneurs between 2009 and 2019. That’s why recognising and supporting Black-owned businesses isn’t just good practice - it’s essential to achieving racial equity and economic justice.

Let’s continue to support, amplify and buy Black - not just during Black History Month, but every day. Please tag a Black-owned business you’ll be supporting in the comments. Let’s spread the love. 👇🏾
