Blackfriars Station (not the original which is over by Southwark)

They don't look like much but these iron supports are left over from the original railway bridge that was here in 1864

Sadly but I believe, necessarily, workers removed the old top parts in 1985 because it was too weak for modern trains

Those workers... were nice enough to leave the red bases behind and here they are for you and your viewing pleasure

SB Adieu gets the Horn...for the start of todays Great River Race!
Every year around 250 rowing boats set off for the 21.6 mile river marathon from Millwall, East London, to Ham in Richmond
Similar to the London Marathon, each crew has its own start time and number with the record finishing time being 2 hours, 2 minutes and 21 Seconds!
