Charli xcx is entering a new era—and it’s one that blurs the lines between music, fashion, and cinema. 🎵🎬👠
The pop provocateur has officially announced her seventh studio album, Music, Fashion, Film, arriving July 24th. Revealed via Instagram, the album artwork features a striking black-and-white image of John Cale, Marc Jacobs, and Martin Scorsese, each representing one pillar of the project’s title.
“My new album Music, Fashion, Film is out july 24th,” Charli wrote. “11 songs, 30 minutes, 5 seconds.”
The album follows two already-released singles, “Rock Music” and “SS26,” the latter lending its name to the record through the lyric: “Nothing’s gonna save us, not music, fashion or film.”
Fresh off the cultural phenomenon that was Brat, Charli appears determined to challenge expectations rather than repeat them. Speaking to British Vogue, she teased a project that intentionally flips the script on her signature hyperpop sound.
That experimentation is already dividing opinion. Lead single “Rock Music” sparked debate among fans and critics alike, with many questioning whether the track even qualifies as rock. But perhaps that’s the point. Charli has built a career on disrupting genres, aesthetics, and industry norms—and Music, Fashion, Film looks set to continue that tradition.
If Brat defined a moment, this new era seems poised to examine the cultural machinery behind it. One thing is certain: Charli isn’t interested in playing it safe.
✨ July 24 can’t come soon enough.
