A slightly less peaceful part of canal life… 😄💦

Nothing quite like the rush of water through a lock to remind you how much engineering sits behind a quiet day’s cruising.

One minute everything is still, the next it’s all noise, movement and water.

Back near one of our favourite mooring spots. There’s something about this stretch of canal — woods on one side, water completely still and hardly a sound.

Sometimes the best part of narrowboating is simply stopping. ❤️🛶

New crew member aboard this week… meet Monty. 🐈‍⬛⚓️

First day on the boat, so the harness was firmly on — mainly to give us a fighting chance of catching him if he decided to make a sudden dash for dry land! 😄

As it turns out, he’s taken to narrowboat life remarkably well. Favourite spot found, settled in with Poppy, and already looking like he owns the place.

One of the most impressive narrowboats we’ve spotted: Dexter’s Star (owned by Narrowboat Life Unlocked 🏳️‍🌈) at Tixall Wide ⭐️🚤

I’d already watched the full YouTube tour, so seeing her in person was brilliant. With her spacious layout, sleek finish and impressive solar setup, she really does feel like the ultimate floating home — pretty much my dream narrowboat.

There’s something dangerous about cruising past the boat you’d happily swap yours for… 😂
