The Asante Mampong High Court fined 13 family members GH¢50,000 each for contempt after they held an Islamic marriage for a woman still legally married to Alhaji Abass, despite court and traditional orders banning it.
Justice William Boampong gave them the choice to pay the fine or serve 30 days in jail while the main case proceeds. Three absent individuals now have arrest warrants, and the 13 convicted are in custody trying to raise the money for release.
