It was a great honour to celebrate at a brilliant lunch organised by and hosted by at their stunning Berkshire HQ. Great company and super to hear the Burma master give a scintillating summary of the Burma Campaign with a special focus on 5 awe inspiring Gurkha VCs. It was also a pleasure to meet one of the new generation of authors who know their Burma .book. And thanks to for the invitation to a memorable event.

Released soon in from

In this powerful intergenerational memoir, author Michael Admiraal and his father, born in the 1920s, drive 2,300 miles across modern-day Germany, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, and France to visit eight N**i concentration camps.

What they discover are not only the remnants of history's darkest chapter, but two profoundly different ways of remembering it.

Part travelogue, part historical guide and part family reflection, 'Along the Roads to Hell' explores what it means to bear witness as outsiders-those who were not victims but who feel a duty to remember. Through maps, photographs, and vivid on-site impressions, Admiraal invites readers to confront the Holocaust not through abstraction, but by standing where it actually happened.

I found this exhibit in the wonderful today which made me smile.

I am often asked where the name 'Chiselbury' came from and this sword and the area it was found in answer that question.

I grew up in South Wiltshire, a couple of miles away from the village of Fovant, which is famous for the military badges carved into the chalk down and the archeological finds now resting safely behind glass pictured here. On the hill above the badges is an ancient Roman camp called Chiselbury.

I often used to ride past the ramparts of the camp and would speculate about the previous inhabitants and visitors over the preceding 2,000 years. I also loved the sound of the name and planned to use it for a company in the future.

And so when I decided to change the name of James Leasor Publishing, 'Chiselbury' was the obvious choice. There is another personal connection, too. I recently discovered that a cousin of mine was in the London Rifle Brigade (the LRB of one of the Fovant Badges in the image) in WW1.

Their badge was allegedly the first one to have been cut and he probably worked on it. My cousin sadly was killed in France on 7 July 1918 and is buried in Dainville British Cemetery.

presents 'Jungle Warrior' a valuable book about an extraordinary and determined man, Britain's greatest SOE commander.

The Special Operations Executive (SOE) was created by Winston Churchill in 1940 to "set Europe ablaze", but its most significant success occurred in the jungles of Burma, where guerrilla operations were vital.

SOE's greatest commander was Lieutenant Colonel Edgar Peacock. Born in India in 1893, Peacock missed WWI due to his work in Burma's Jungles. In 1940, aged 46, he lied about his age and enlisted as a Private, ending the war as a highly decorated special forces Lieutenant Colonel, who had conceived, planned and led the most successful guerrilla operation of WW2.

really is an extraordinary place. Wander down any street and history abounds.

I stumbled across this gem in St James's Place, tucked quietly behind and Winston lived at number 29 for three years before he was packed off to

In his autobiography, 'My Early Life', he recalled his time in the house as being content. He noted "I was only seven and had been so happy in my nursery with all my toys."
