Great sound doesn’t always mean sound that demands your attention.

For motion picture, the best mixes work alongside the story. They shape atmosphere, emotion and tension without pulling you out of the moment.

Over on our blog, Emmy Award-winning audio engineer and Abbey Road Institute course leader Justin Fraser shares his insight into mixing for film and TV, from approaching a mix instinctively to understanding the bigger picture.

Sometimes the best thing you can add to a song… is nothing. 🎧

Knowing when to step back, leave space and show restraint can be just as powerful as adding another layer, sound or idea.

Who knew celery could have a career in film? 🥬🎬

Foley artists use everyday objects to recreate the sounds that make film feel real.

On our Advanced Diploma in Audio Post Production for Film & TV, students get hands-on experience in professional Foley spaces, learning how to build the sound of a film from the ground up.

And yes… that means getting creative with celery.
