Southern Province to receive government University,While King Lewanika University....

New University for Choma as Zambia–China Partnership Expands

ZANIS -A new government university will soon be constructed in Choma District, Southern Province, as part of a strategic partnership between the Southern Province Administration and the People’s Government of Fujian Province in China.

Southern Province Minister Credo Nanjuwa stated that Choma—renowned for its rich cultural heritage and agricultural strength—is poised to become a hub for higher learning. He highlighted education and cultural exchange as key benefits of the twinning agreement.

Meanwhile, Southern Province Expo Committee Member and Sinazongwe Town Council Secretary, Choolwe Maunga, emphasized the province’s vast investment potential in livestock, fisheries, agriculture, mining, energy, and infrastructure, among other sectors.

Ms. Maunga also noted that Zambia has waived visa requirements for 167 countries, including China, to facilitate investor participation in opportunities across the province.

The South Expo 2025 team, led by Minister Nanjuwa, is currently in China to attract investors ahead of the Southern Province Investment Exposition, scheduled for October 12, 2025.
