Tottenham, meet LICKS real fruit ice cream. Founded by local Tottenham resident Kate, Lick’s is a mobile ice cream setup serving real fruit ice cream inspired by the New Zealand tradition, where real fruit is blended with quality vanilla ice cream into soft serve swirls, made fresh to order.

Simple idea. Very, very good result. 🍦
..Because the fruit is blended in fresh, you get all that proper flavour and texture coming through in the ice cream. It’s creamy, fruity, made in front of you and basically exactly what you want on a sunny day.

Kate started Lick’s after spending part of an Australian summer working with a friend in Tasmania who runs a real fruit ice cream business. She loved the joy of making and handing someone an ice cream so much that, when she came back to London, she decided to bring the idea here.

And lucky for us, she’s local to Tottenham!

You can catch Lick’s next at West Green Market on Saturday 4 July.

Lick’s is also available for all kinds of events, parties, weddings, markets, corporate events and more... so worth keeping in mind if you’re planning something and want something joyful, fresh and different.

If you've walked past Aunties Street Food on Tottenham High Road and never gone in, consider this your sign.

Because wow.

is a Ghanaian fusion takeaway offering freshly cooked flavours from Western Africa and the Caribbean. Having gone in and ordered online a few times, I can honestly say, hand on heart - it's some of the best food I've eaten in Tottenham in a long time.

The mackerel and beans were unbelievably good. The cassava leaf stew completely blew my mind. The lamb ntaba - smoky pieces of lamb packed with flavour, disappeared far too quickly. And the brown stew chicken was so tender it was practically falling off the bone.

The outstanding food isn't the only thing that makes Aunties special though.

You can see everything being cooked fresh behind the counter. The kitchen is open, the welcome is warm, and there's a real sense that everyone genuinely cares about what they're making. The people serving me both times couldn't have been kinder. Each time I've gone, they happily explain dishes, make recommendations, talk you through the specials and check in to make sure everything is okay.

Sit in if you can.

The dining area is simple but comfortable, and being able to watch the aunties cooking, chatting and smiling away in the kitchen makes it feel less like a takeaway and more like being invited into someone's home.

The High Road needed somewhere like this.

Proper home-cooked food. Proper hospitality. Proper flavour.

10/10.

I am already planning what to order next time.

Find them on 266 Tottenham High Road, on the stretch of shops in between the college and Tesco.

Really sad to hear that Dubai Coffee () was broken into last night, with windows smashed and money taken from the tills.

There’s been plenty of local debate about their name since they opened... it seems to be marmite, but moments like this feel a bit bigger than that.

We’ve been in, tested the coffee and croissants, and can confirm: they’re definitely good.

It’s also a genuinely lovely space. A gorgeous building with light streaming in and somewhere peaceful to sit for five minutes in a busy part of Tottenham.

Independent businesses choosing to open here, invest here and bring something new to the High Road deserve support when things like this happen.

If you’ve been meaning to try it, maybe this week is the week. Buy a coffee, grab a pastry, show a bit of local love. ❤️

Now open where the old Cinnamon Leaf Food Hall used to be on the High Road đź‘€

If you’re heading for Costa (literally a few doors down)... honestly, skip it and go here instead.

Nord Espresso is doing proper coffee, fresh sandwiches in the mornings (tuna on the go when we popped in đź‘€), and making fresh little salad boxes daily.

Plus, it's genuinely warm and friendly service.

Simple, good, local - exactly what we want more of in Tottenham.

The Elmhurst Pub on Lordship Lane has introduced a “no under 16s” rule in their outdoor area… which is interesting, given there are at least 7 schools and nurseries within 500m 👀

It’s been a go-to for parents since it opened. Kids menu, weekend lunches, after school visits.

So… fair enough, or completely missing the mark?

Discuss.
