We're thrilled to be producing the first Festival of British Advertising on behalf of The IPA in March 2017. Here are the details:
'The IPA is excited to announce this three-day Festival and Exhibition to mark our Centenary, and to celebrate the advertising industry’s ongoing contribution to the UK. Set in a major East London venue, the exhibition will shed light on an industry which brings in £20.1bn to the UK, employs over 167,000 people and engages with millions of Britons each year.
This exhibition will reflect on the past and the future of advertising as it faces and adapts to world events, huge technological changes and ever changing consumer habits. Live events will run for the three-day period and will bring together key members of the industry, renowned film directors and leading government figures in a series of panel discussions and screenings. Events confirmed so far include Alan Parker, director of Bugsy Malone and Midnight Express, discussing his career and Adam Buxton with a advertising-focussed Bug special, with many more to be announced shortly.
We have a number of initiatives planned to capture everyone’s imagination, from students to industry titans. Together with our principal sponsors, Google and Channel4, we will be looking back over a century of change, and looking forward to the next 100 years of UK advertising.’
- Tom Knox, IPA President and Chairman of MullenLowe London
‘Advertising has always been one of the UK’s greatest exports – from the great, iconic adverts of the sixties to the growth of online advertising, for which the UK is the second biggest market after the US. At Google we want to continue to grow the industry by helping brands to reach their target audience effectively with great creative as well as encourage and support new and diverse talent into the industry. We are delighted to be alongside Channel 4 supporting this exciting celebration of our brilliant advertising industry.’
- Mark Howe, Managing Director EMEA Agencies
‘We’re delighted to support this exhibition marking 100 years of the IPA. Advertising funds the delivery of Channel 4’s public service remit to champion innovation, diversity and young people - as witnessed by our Paralympics advertising and coverage, which has changed public attitudes to disability, and shows what a powerful and benevolent influence advertising can be. Here’s to the next 100 years of the IPA.’
- Dan Brooke, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer & Jonathan Allan, Sales Director
The exhibition will be free and open to all.
The IPA was established in 1917 in response to a request from the Government of the day to help with their recruitment and propaganda efforts. Today the IPA is widely recognised as the world’s most influential professional body for practitioners in advertising and marketing communications. It is a not-for-profit membership organisation that exists because of, and for, it’s members.
The Festival of British Advertising will be produced by Studio Sixty Billion - a production company specialising in comedy entertainment, online content and advertising.
Festival contributors, members of the IPA and Studio Sixty Billion will be available for features and interview.
