The Iran War just became an economic crisis.

When military conflict disrupts global energy flows, the damage spreads fast. Fuel prices spike. Transportation costs rise. Inflation climbs. That's why what happens between the US and Iran doesn't stay in the Middle East.

It affects your grocery bills. Your gas pump. Global trade.

Europe's largest nuclear power plant has had no external power for over a week.

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant — six reactors, Russian-occupied, sitting on an active frontline — is running entirely on emergency diesel generators. Those generators have roughly 10 days of fuel left.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi warned today that without power restored or new diesel delivered, the plant faces a complete blackout. Three drone strikes hit the site this week, injuring two workers.
This is the 27th power outage at Zaporizhzhia since Russia's invasion began. Chernobyl failed in seconds. Fukushima failed when backup power ran out. Zaporizhzhia's backup power is already its only power.
The IAEA is now trying to negotiate a local ceasefire simply to repair electrical lines.
Ten days of fuel. An active war. A distracted world.
Are we really prepared to let this become the next nuclear emergency?

Jared Kushner flew to Tel Aviv to save the Gaza ceasefire. Hours after he left, Benjamin Netanyahu ordered new strikes.
Five killed in Gaza on August 28. Three killed in the West Bank city of Jenin. Senior IDF officers confirmed this week a return to pre-ceasefire rules of engagement. Over 1,300 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire deal was signed in October.
In Lebanon, Hezbollah publicly rejected the US-brokered disarmament deal the one Lebanon's own government already signed.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi posted on X today pressure doesn't work. Six months into the war. Over 4,300 dead in Lebanon. 82 vessels rerouted from the Strait of Hormuz. Thousands of sailors still stranded in the Persian Gulf.
Pakistan and Qatar are both mediating. Neither side is moving.
Is Donald Trump's Middle East diplomacy salvageable or has this already gone too far?

A glacier collapsed in the Himalayas on August 26. What followed was catastrophic.
Water levels on the Trishuli River rose 9 metres in just 30 minutes. Villages in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading were buried before anyone could reach safety.
At least 469 people are confirmed dead. Over 1,300 are missing. Bridges, roads, and entire communities have been erased from the map.

Nepal and China had an early warning system in place for years. It failed — overwhelmed and destroyed before it could send a single alert.

Nepal contributes almost nothing to global carbon emissions. It keeps paying with its people's lives.

Military posturing. Nuclear threats. Energy chokepoints. The Israel Iran conflict is escalating faster than most people realize.

What started as regional tension is now reshaping global markets, alliance structures, and military strategy across the Middle East.

The question isn't whether conflict will happen. The question is what happens to the global economy when it does.

The UK just officially ended two major benefits and most people missed it.
Yesterday, the DWP confirmed that Housing Benefit and Employment and Support Allowance have been closed. Nearly two million people have now been moved onto Universal Credit.
The government says this simplifies the system. Charities say vulnerable people are falling through the gaps some losing over £600 a month after following advice sent by their own council.
And starting this week, the DWP has new powers to take money directly from your bank account to recover benefit debt. No court order needed.
If you or someone you know is still on legacy benefits, check your migration notice today. Missing the deadline means losing your income.
Is this genuine welfare reform or are the most vulnerable paying the price?

A video game is about to become the biggest entertainment launch in human history and economists are paying attention.
GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026. $79.99 standard edition. Pre-orders went live on June 25th and sold out on Amazon in under one hour.
Analysts project anywhere from 35 to 85 million copies sold in the first 60 days. Some say it could clear $1 billion in week one alone more than any film ever made.
Its delay alone already cost the global gaming industry $2.7 billion in 2025. Sony and Microsoft are timing entire console bundles around its release. Retailers are warning of hardware shortages before it even drops.
But NYU professor Joost van Druenen says don't get carried away one game cannot reverse an entire industry's decline. Gaming layoffs are rising. Free-to-play titles dominate mobile. The crash after the boom could be brutal.
GTA 5 still makes over $1 million every single day 13 years after launch.
If GTA 6 comes close to that, the economic ripple won't stop at gaming.
Do you think GTA 6 can actually move the global economy?

Ukraine hit the Moscow Oil Refinery 9 miles from the Kremlin for the second time in one week.
555 drones launched in a single night. Fuel shortages spreading across Russia. Diesel export bans being discussed. Crimea rationing power and restricting movement.
Then Vladimir Putin walked in front of cameras and said Russia is ready for peace talks.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy had already said it plainly Moscow will burn if Putin continues this war. Ukraine's UN envoy Andrii Melnyk followed up Kyiv's patience is not endless.
Steve Witkoff is watching. Mark Rutte is at the White House today. The NATO summit in Ankara is weeks away.
Is Putin ready for real peace or is this what desperation sounds like?

Putin's approval ratings just hit their lowest point since the Ukraine war started.
That's the headline nobody in Moscow wants to talk about.
Four months before Russia's parliamentary elections, public sentiment is shifting. War weariness. Fuel shortages. Internet restrictions. Internet outages affecting 80 percent of the population.
The question isn't whether Putin's support is declining. It's what happens to a regime when it does.
