The translation activity in our country today suffers from an unprecedented dilution of quality. Since the "sworn translator" category was removed in Bulgaria in the early 1990s, an uncontrolled entry (and exit) into the guild of translators began. To become an officially registered translator, you only need to sign one or two declarations, present a copy of your diploma, and that is. Today in our translation is "fascial work" and translations you can see any, including on television and the press. There are over 1300 translation firms registered in the country, with no more than 1% of translators having to prove their capabilities on an official level.
The lack of state certification control over translation activities does not mean that quality is ensured. While it is still required by law that translators registered with a company hold a higher school or high school diploma with a language school, there is no mechanism for checking the translator's skills / skills before hanging out with the loud - non-existent - title "sworn translator".
Nor is there a possibility for a proven translator to work independently without having to pay a "translation firm" tax for the "pleasure" to work his craft. European legislation has long regulated translation and has a sworn translators certification mechanism. However, if someone in Bulgaria presents you as a "sworn translator" or some company advertises you to work with them, they either are uninformed or deliberately mislead you.
Therefore, the only thing that remains is the internal-quality self-control. The Transparency Works Company emerged in 2015 after, for years, its owner and manager, Ivan Djulgerov, worked for various companies, was poorly paid or just cheated by some of them, and saw enough to know how not to is working in the field of translations.
