Generate too soon, and the question behind the song can disappear.

Before you make another version, write down what the track still needs to prove: the feeling, the lyric, or the hook. Keep that brief in view as you review each take.

A polished output is not automatically progress. If a version only sounds finished, but does not move the brief forward, reject it. Keep the take that strengthens your direction, and your authorship.

Generic AI songs rarely fail because of the model. They fail before the prompt.

No specific scene. No speaker. No moment the lyric belongs to. Just a genre, a mood, and a request for something “emotional.” The result may sound polished, but it could belong to anyone.

Before generating, write one sentence the song must make the listener see. A kitchen light left on at 2 a.m. A voicemail never sent. A train platform after the last goodbye. Then reject every version that could exist without that detail.

A familiar chorus can sound finished while the song loses its identity. Predictable vocal phrasing and a polished arrangement can make “good enough” difficult to question. Compare versions before generating again. Keep the strongest decisions. Note what changed. The draft you nearly discarded may contain the line, phrasing, or production choice that gives the song a point of view.
