Hi everyone, this is tough post to write as it's something I never thought I would do!
I wanted to share something very personal and ask if you can support me. As you may know, in March 2025, I bought a 2nd hand adapted, accessible vehicle that has truly changed my life. It cost me £40,000, and I also spent around £2,500 on adaptations, insurance, and recovery cover — because I need to make sure I can get the right help if I break down.
This amazing dream vehicle is essential for my independence and enables George and I to go out together. It’s the only one that fits my extra-wide powerchair, which I need because of my condition, lipoedema. No other option is available. Thanks to this car, I’ve been able to:
- Collect my grandson from school
- Attend family events and outings including get to Dave and Lyssa wedding!
- Go to an event with Paul and Dave
- Take George to medical appointments
- Enjoy days out with our lovely friends and family, including trips out with family from overseas.
- Shop independently in Loughborough (felt like a tourist as it's been years since going on my own).
- Even go on holiday to Devon to lovely adapted accommodation for us near the sea
Since having this vehicle, I’ve been able to live more freely, truly enjoy life and stay connected with those we love. However, paying off the loan and covering ongoing costs is a challenge for me right now. Can you help at all?
I have thought long and hard about it and decided / been strongly encouraged too (!!) set up a GoFundMe to help me pay off the remaining balance and keep this great car / van because we would be lost without it. Once I have paid off the loan that I didn't plan on needing to take out.... we can crack on with living our best lives again!
Any help that you can give — whether it is a donation, sharing this post, or spreading the word — would mean the world to me. I feel very vulnerable in asking however I want to make the most of our lives together as we get out in the car and I would like to keep it!

Thank you so much for your kindness, support, and for helping me stay independent. ❤️
With so much love and gratitude,
Sue 🩷💕❤️💜💓🌸🤞🦋
