Residents and businesses in are being warned of a closure in the town centre for deep excavation works to investigate a suspected collapsed sewer.

Diversions will be in place as works start on the site in Smallgate on Monday July 28 from 9.30am.

The work is scheduled to last for two nights but this may be extended depending on what remedial works are required.

Businesses will remain open as usual but Blyburgate, Hungate and London Road will be access only.

A diversion will be in place along Peddars Lane, St Mary’s Road, Ballygate and New Market.

The main car parks in Newgate and Hungate Lane will still be accessible and not affected by the closure.

Suffolk Highways apologises in advance for any inconvenience but these are urgent works.

Owing to their nature it will not be possible to re-open the road overnight.

A new charity partnership has been launched in - and it’s the first of its kind in Suffolk! ☺️

Lowestoft and Waveney Breastfeeding Support and The Human Milk Foundation - have joined forces to bring a new donor human milk hub in the town.
