RIP Walt Disney. Today we pause to honor a dreamer whose imagination reshaped the world.

The photograph you see is the last ever taken of Walt at Disneyland—a place born from his vision. Captured by Renie Bardeau, Disneyland’s longtime photographer, it shows Walt standing with Mickey before Sleeping Beauty Castle, just months before his passing.

After eleven frames, Renie said they were done. Walt hesitated, asking softly if he was certain. Then he shared a truth he lived by: film was like paper clips—you capture everything, because once the moment is gone, it may never return.

Renie took one more picture. Walt smiled, thanked him, and walked away.

On December 15, 1966, at the age of 65, Walt Disney left this world. Yet his spirit never truly departed. His castles, his characters, his stories—they continue to remind us that imagination can outlive us all.

✨ A final photograph. A final lesson. And a legacy that will never fade.
