I'm offering all new students the choice to book the first term (normally 12-13 weeks) in two 6 week blocks if it helps.

The first session is free and normally takes about 45 minutes. It's a meet'n'greet to check your instruments, swap lots of advice/information and for you to get a feel for who I am and how I approach teaching.

There's no obligation to start lessons so please feel free to arrange a meeting if you want to know more!

This is the box violin I made for Wee Grace's first meet'n'greet session a couple of weeks ago. Grace is a bright, gorgeous two and a half year old who's going to be an incredible violinist. Just look at how beautifully she decorated her box violin!

Grace and her Mummy painted it, put sweet stickers all over it and even added glitter. And really, EVERYTHING is better with glitter!

If you have a very young aspiring violinist in the house you can make one of these from a suitably sized cardboard box. The 'bow' is a length of bamboo with padded felt ends. The rest is cardboard. Easy, Peasy!

If we're patient and persistent we can do amazing things.

The key to being patient with teeny tiny violinists is to always hold the vision of what they'e becoming rather than where they are.

ALL of my students are Menuhin's in the making and I call them forward with unwavering belief in their amazingness.

FAQ's answered...

* Lessons happen once a week.

* A single lesson runs for half an hour and costs fifteen pounds.

* A group lesson (with a maximum of two students at once) runs for half an hour and costs twenty pounds. I highly recommend beginners starting with a violin buddy, they learn faster and save money.

* I can size up students so you know which violin to buy. I can advise on which violin to buy and I can help set up the bridge and shoulder rest. A beginners violin with bow and shoulder rest starts at about fifty pounds and goes up from there depending on what you want.

* Lessons are very fun, engaging and packed with techniques to help students progress quickly. The joy of playing the violin greatly increases as you get better.

* Parents are very welcome to sit in on lessons at any time and get involved in the learning process.

* Students can begin as early as three years old. With the very tiny ones I start with lots of props and games to introduce them to the posture and good holding techniques. We learn songs and play games to immerse their amazing sponge-like brains in musical principles as well as the upcoming repertoire. I play the violin for them each week so they hear how it should sound and see how it's held. There's plenty to do and learn even if they don't start putting bow to string straight away. I have a three year old myself and I like to think I know how to work with wandering attention spans.🙂

Learn faster with a violin buddy and save money.

Group lessons are available for two students at a time for beginners. It's twenty pounds for a group lesson and is a great way to introduce children to the violin.

It's great to learn together, you can encourage each other, remind each other of what you've learned and even practice together. Who knows, you may just become musical BFF's!
