Clod Magazine & Books Clod Magazine began in 1987. We're closing in on FORTY editions. We did, however, take seven gap years, consecutively. (No-one noticed).

A Saturday afternoon trip to Shepherd’s Bush Market, to a new Clod Magazine stockist! “Special Rider Books & Records”. A great little market unit, surrounded by food outlets and cloth specialists. Thank you to Kevin and George, who have some very exciting stock inside their independent shop. Clods 38, 39 and 40 delivered. Cheers!

Today there are strict rules on data protection.

At Clod Magazine, here in 2025, we are not exactly certain as to the precise level of immorality of still having a book of Clod reader’s details, scrawled in Biro, set inside one of those corner-shop note-pads that were commonplace back in 1988.

Do you think it should be destroyed? Or at the very least redacted?

When you’re operating in the high octane environment of small publishing (but grandiose ideas) be sure to take stock of your achievements.
Start by counting how many of the bastard things are still in boxes under the bed. You don’t have to do this very often, once or twice every ten years’ll do.
Here’s some we prepared earlier, and as you can see things move on at pace, whether you realise it or not. The great river of life, dribbling past

Arthur Schopenhauer /
"Arthur Schopenhauer was a German philosopher. He is best known for his 1818 work The World as Will and Representation, which characterizes the phenomenal world as the product of a blind noumenal will. Building on the transcendental idealism of Immanuel Kant, Schopenhauer developed an atheistic metaphysical and ethical system that rejected the contemporaneous ideas of German idealism. He was among the first thinkers in Western philosophy to share and affirm significant tenets of Indian philosophy, such as asceticism, denial of the self, and the notion of the world-as-appearance. His work has been described as an exemplary manifestation of philosophical pessimism. Though his work failed to garner substantial attention during his lifetime, Schopenhauer had a posthumous impact across various disciplines, including philosophy, literature, and science. His writing on aesthetics, morality, and psychology have influenced many thinkers and artists."

A 1990 advert for Clod Magazine by the formative writers. This advert appeared only in one of their ‘on the road’ diaries, which would have been seen by no-one else at the time. So this is something of an exclusive! First time out in the open!
Enjoy the careful graphics + stickers, fans!

Don’t forget, we’re in a tunnel at Waterloo on Saturday, as part of the Anarchist Book Fair 2025. 💣
