bit.ly/zakir-hossain He was born on December 11th, though his official birthday is recorded as February 6th. When he first started school, the enrolling teacher mistakenly documented his birthdate as February 6th — a detail that has remained a my

stery ever since. From that point on, he has lived with two birthdays: one real and one official. This unusual beginning is just one of many dramatic moments in a life filled with unexpected twists and transformative experiences. From an early age, he was drawn to a vast array of professions, his mind alive with dreams that pulled him in a thousand directions. Yet, despite his many interests, it was art and literature that truly captured his heart. Once he began to explore these creative paths, he instantly recognized where he belonged. Since 1990, he has remained passionately committed to the world of art and literature, navigating a journey full of challenges, growth, and discovery. Today, he is a recognized filmmaker and creative professional with expertise in writing, research, acting, training, and producing. He has written scripts for both stage and television, directed and produced a range of films — including documentaries and fiction — and contributed film criticism and analytical pieces to national newspapers and film magazines in both Bangladesh and the UK. His work has been featured in several international film festivals, and his literary output includes four non-fiction books, four novels, eight poetry collections, and one fictional diary. In addition, he has designed covers, written prefaces, revised texts, and served as series editor for eight other major literary publications. He holds a Master’s degree in Media Production from the University of Bedfordshire in the UK. His creative work has earned recognition from leading institutions such as the BBC and Screen East (the Screen Agency for the East of England), as well as praise from notable individuals and international media outlets. In 2007, he became the first Bangladeshi filmmaker based in the UK to be included in the prestigious British Film Catalogue for his international feature film The Auction. Zakir Hossain's life and work reflect a deep commitment to storytelling in all its forms, with a vision to bring people together through creativity, empathy, and versatility. His enduring passion for creative expression drives him to explore and connect diverse ideas, fostering understanding and unity through his multifaceted work.
