It has and still is the most exciting experience to be writing these novellas based on my Mother’s favourite creation Lady Penelope. I am so honored and grateful to Paul Andrews and Auk for making this happen.
SIXTY YEARS YOUNG...
As hits its 60th anniversary, I'm delighted to be overseeing the official 'Lady Penelope Investigates' range of new literary and audio projects for AUK Studios, in conjunction with ITV Global.
I've just put the finishing touches to long-form treatments for the novella range, based on some fantastic ideas by Sam Jones, for the writers to work from.
It's a genuine delight that Dee Anderson (daughter of the amazing Sylvia Anderson) is on board as a writer and the voice of Lady Penelope; forming a partnership with Paul Andrews (CEO of Andrews UK Ltd) called Anderson Andrews Productions. Her iconic mother, who was never given the full credit she deserved for her collabroations with her husband Gerry Anderson, is having a BAFTA seat unveiled today in her name (and a scholarship is launched for aspiring writers and filmmakers too).
I'll soon be working with Dee more closely on her expanded book and theatre show, as well as republishing her mother's brilliant autobiography.
Keep your eyes and ears out for iconic characters and crafts from the mothership show popping up in 'Lady Penelope Investigates' but only as a cameos. These stories are very much centred on Lady Penelope, her trusty aide and chauffeur, Parker, and their investivigative partnership in swinging 2065 (the retro-futuristic timeline where the original show was set. It's a 1960's view of what the world should have been like by now).
It's really going to be FAB!
