The opinion: “Judge not, that ye be not judged” — Matthew 7:1

Why it’s controversial:
This is the most misquoted verse on the internet. People use it as a shield to shut down accountability: “Don’t judge me.” But Jesus wasn’t banning discernment — He was banning hypocrisy. The next verse says we’ll be judged by the same measure we use.

“Judge not” isn’t a pass to ignore sin. It’s a warning to check your own heart first.
You can’t pull a splinter out of someone’s eye with a log in your own. Jesus said _remove your log first, then_ you’ll see clearly to help your brother. Real love corrects — but it starts with a clean mirror.

“‘Don’t judge me’ isn’t biblical. ‘Judge yourself first’ is. When’s the last time you checked your own log?”
