Throwback Thursday to my visit to the Dean Forest Railway.

With an Amber Heatwave in place in many areas of the UK today....many areas have officially been declared in drought....therefore water is on my mind 😁

Here is one of my different clips I take showing one of our Little Steam engines getting a drink. Look out for the little pot of powder going in to...do you reckon its similar to say a washing machine descaled? 🤭

Posting without the temptation to add music over as there was a family stood next to me on the bridge chatting but then thats all part of our Heritage Railways....you want those people stood there over nobody...every customer is important ❤️

With steam operations halted in a lot of areas including the mainline with England's ongoing heatwave....I look back on a favourite mainline charter I did back in 2021 with Tornado and Flying Scotsman.

Tornado was a dream...powered along the mainline to Carlisle with ease. Scotsman...temperamental old girl 🤭 on the return leg after constantly trying to throw her emergency breaking system on the Pullman carriages was like a house of flying daggers with the knives...worry not...I had a firm hand on my glass that night 🤣 eventually we were pulled into the sidings just past Ribblehead awaiting Vin rescue 🫣

Anyway...to celebrate how great Tornado performed that day...when the opportunity arose to travel again behind her with Vintage Trains later this year...I could not resist. Especially as...this is England...no way can we go another few months with no rain 🤷🏼‍♀️

Token Tuesday this week features the mighty Mogul LMS 13268.

Following last week's exciting news that the Mogul is heading back to the mainline in a deal struck with Vintage Trains of Tysley....here is 13268 rolling into Arley Station where the crew hand the token to the waiting Signalman.

The incoming train from Kidderminster has yet to arrive....which is why it is not an exchange...and the Mogul must sit and wait until the crew can receive their token to proceed out of Arley Station.

Meanwhile here is also a little glimpse of the beautiful Arley Station...one of my favourites on pur Heritage lines.

Well here it is 🤭

To shunt the U class back onto her carriages the 'Signalman' pulls the ground frame levers to allow her manoeuvres around Norden Station.

Token Tuesday this week features....D9015 Tulyar

Filmed on Saturday during the 'Return of the Race Horse' weekend....the Deltic rolls into Rothley Station where the single track line from Leicester North requires control by the token system....although here at Great Central it looks more like a key 😁

The Station Master awaits....and takes the token key from the crew to enable them to move straight through the Station onto Quorn.

Seen here housed in the Engine House at Highley on the Severn Valley Railway....the Lady is a historic Hunslett built back in 1898.

Originally this Lil' Loco operated on the Manchester Ship Canal...and I believe was back then named St John.

Return of the Race Horse 🏇

Deltic D9015 returns for a special weekend of running at the Great Central Railway

Always seems to happen that I book a Dining Train in the winter to then find closer to the time the weekend has turned into a special event 😁

Not sure if the horse is on the Diner later....but here they are leaving Quorn Station earlier today.
