IMPORTANT UPDATE ABOUT THE KILLA TAPES MAGAZINE ⚠️
The Killa Tapes Magazine will now be made available twice a year, as a bi-annual publication, as opposed to a monthly issue. The main reason for this is purely and simply because of a lack of demand. Although the content is there and the need for a publication like the Killa Tapes Magazine is evident, the ability to sell the magazine is becoming an increasingly harder slog each month.
Perhaps it was that we changed it from being a quarterly issue to a monthly issue a few months back, due to the need for a more regular issue with the level of content to write about being so high, and that increase in release frequency may have had an impact on sales, but either way it has become apparent that we have bitten off more than we can chew and will now release a magazine in May, and another in November, each year. December's issue simply didn't sell enough copies to justify its own existence, and it had nothing to do with the quality of the content. We had Dirty D**e on the front cover, and interviewed both him and Skuff, two of the most well respected Hip Hop artists in the UKHH community. It also isn't down to a lack of advertising, or promotion as the magazine is promoted tirelessly using various forms of marketing, from digital to physical placements in shops and advertising from third parties. It is somewhat of a quandary, but one that is not financially sustainable and so a cutback of sorts is definitely required. This, however, is not the end of the magazine, in fact you could say it is a positive step forward.
A bi-annual issue will make the magazine more exclusive, and each issue will now contain more pages, more content, interviews and reviews, along with the five tapes ratings of UKHH releases. It will give us more time to focus on quality over quantity, and it will allow for wider scope with what we write about, who we interview and how the magazine looks as a more in-depth and professional publication.
