Big Red Studios is a purpose built professional recording and rehearsal facility in the heart of Macclesfield, Cheshire. Built from scratch, by musicians, for musicians, the studios design centers around simplicity and functionality, in a pleasant and professional environment. We cater for all recording, mixing, digital mastering services as well as offering rehearsal space in the live room (spec

The large (one of the biggest in the North West) acoustically designed and treated live room is perfect for all recording/rehearsal applications. The space can be partitioned to suit any requirements. The size/design/treatment of the space makes for a very accurate yet forgiving sounding room- particularly important with the potentially higher volumes associated with full band rehearsal. For recording, open and close sounds can both be easily achieved through different partitioning and placement in the room, giving well over 550 sq ft of versatile space for recording or rehearsal. The 2k PA built by Concert Systems features Crown amplification and a Yamaha 24 track analogue desk. This is complimented with quality Alesis and Yamaha outboard reverb/delay units making for a crisp, quality sounding system. Floor monitors are also available upon request. The Big Red is also a single live room facility which means you won't be hearing the dull thud of 'that band next door' whilst you rehearse!

The control room has been designed and setup with mixing and tracking in mind. Room design, acoustic hung treble baffles and Bass traps combine to make an accurate and professional working environment. The fully Macintosh equipped studio centers around the warm sounding 32 channel analog Tascam desk and flagship RME A/D converters (among the best on the planet right now)- Recording up to 192khz. Monitoring is delivered through KRK V6's and NS10s both with Yamaha HS10W sub. We have a good selection of mics as well as Valve pres/compressors- TL Audio/DBX etc. Waves Platinum plugins, Cubase, along with a host of soft synths provide a powerful, professional and stable recording platform. The studio benefits from ample off street parking straight outside. Load in is a breeze with a purpose built loading bay (No hauling gear up any stairs!) and then it's just 18 ft into the live room. Local bars, shops, Macclesfield train and bus stations are all within a couple of minutes walk. About the staff

Jake Evans
Musician/songwriter/producer/engineer Jake Evans has worked with many musicians over the years. Some of these include.... Bernard Sumner and Steve Morris ( New Order/Joy Division/Bad Lieutenant) Marion, Jimi Goodwin (Doves), Cherry Ghost, Alex James ( Blur), Lilly Allen, Stuart Price (Les Rythmes Digitales) and Brandon Flowers ( The Killers). Jake is a multi instrumentalist who has been playing in bands, songwriting and engineering for many years now, with many original releases and recording credits to his name. His most recent offering being an original song on the C.A.L.M. charity album, alongside artists such as Elbow and Noel Gallagher. Education
