Here’s your sign to never trust English weather after moving to the UK! For crying out loud the weather changes every hour and I have reached the end of my wits trying to figure out what to wear so I’m not too hot or too cold or drenched or over dressed!

Even when you check the weather app, the weather might say 10° but check carefully because it’s likely somewhere down there they would have written “feel like 2°”. 😡

Visa fees to move to the UK are increasing across the board from 8th April 2026.

So if you plan on moving to the UK, it’s important that your account for these expenses before you actually make the move here because if you’re accounting for your family, it can get quite expensive.

Key UK Visa Fees (Effective from 8 April 2026)

Standard Visitor (up to 6 months): £127
Standard Visitor (2-year long-term): £475
Student Visa: £558Graduate Route Visa: £937
Skilled Worker Visa (outside UK, up to 3 yrs): £1,618 (previously £1,519)
Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR): £3,226 (previously £3,029)
Standard Visitor (for medical/academic, up to 11/12 months): £220

I saved £400 on my UK flight using THIS trick.

1. Never search flights in your own country.
2. Use incognito + set location to a cheaper country.
3. Also — book Tuesday or Wednesday.
4. And ALWAYS compare on Skyscanner or@Google Flights first.
This alone can save you hundreds.

You might not know this when you move to the UK, but if you’re caught speeding in the UK, you might get a hefty fine and a minimum of 3 points on your license.
And you’ll be notified by post.
Now you can either pay the fine and accept the points on your license or in some cases you are offered the possibility of taking a refresher driving course instead of the fine and the points on your license.
And believe me you don’t want those points because they affect your insurance, your lease and more than 12 points - you face a 6 month ban!
And these points remain on your license for 4 years.

UK is changing its ILR policy from five years to 10 years, retrospectively. So if you move to the UK just five years, four years ago, three years ago, two years ago or even one year ago, it doesn’t matter you will never be eligible for an ILR after 10 years unless you meet certain criteria. Very strict criteria, if you ask me. But the rules regarding dependence spouses have not been clarified yet, so maybe there is some good news after all.

Stay tuned for more updates. 🇬🇧❤️

If you plan on moving on the UK, you really need to hear this! You will bot believe how expensive dental expenses can be in the UK.
A few days ago, I needed a crown replacement. I was told I needed an implant and the implant would cost anywhere between £5000- £7000. In the meantime, I would need a denture, which cost £1000. And the process to get and implant the implant would take 6 to 9 months.

Now you’re not from the UK, you will realise that these timelines and costs are absolutely ridiculous. So the point is, are you really prepared for this?
