It’s quite exciting waking up to snow this morning 😃 just ran out in my dressing gown to take a few photographs 😂 luckily it doesn’t seem like it’s going to stick around long and it’s already quite wet.

What a relief as getting down the hill to work on Monday would have been interesting.

Well, I didn’t expect to see snow this morning!! Mr G informed Met check did tell us last night 😂 I’m not a fan of the snow, but I did rush out at 6:30 this morning to take these photographs as it was quite exciting, but now I’ve got to tackle the school run and cross country drive to the next small town for Work wish me luck!!

Do you have snow where you are?

Slowly getting all of my ideas into one place for the lounge/kitchen, what do you guys think?

The design is definitely inspired by the view, the windows they are such an unusual shape and really frame the beautiful trees in the garden. I’m thinking Green with a few burnt orange browns and reds.

We are hoping to have the apartment functional for Christmas for family to stay, we definitely won’t be finished but it will be on its way there.

This weekend we are going to a very exciting factory shop to buy all the China can you guess where we are going?

On a different note was anybody else a New Young Pony Club fan? Their first album was almost 20 years ago now 😳 I really do feel that they were ahead of their time, and didn’t get the recognition they deserved. We saw them live quite a few times and they were always fantastic.

Thank you for all your help yesterday picking wallpaper, it’s really interesting to get everybody’s opinion.

Would you be interested in seeing a tour before we get stuck into the decorating?

I absolutely love this work in progress aerial photograph from the estate agent that was taken this summer.

Swipe to see some old photos of the house through the years the first is very old with a illustrated view from the garden before all the trees were as large as they are now, wow doesn’t it look different!!

The third photo is from the 1940s or 1950’s when the garden had an amazing Rose garden which attracted many visitors.

Run dont walk!!!

This classic William Morris wallpaper Acanthus by Clarke & Clarke that I’ve picked for our kitchen/sitting room is on sale for only £30 a roll!! And they have lots of other William Morris designs

It’s so bright and fresh and will definitely bring the garden into a house. I think it’s a winner for our open kitchen/ lounge. The kitchen is very neutral, off-white cupboards and textured granite so the green will pop against it.

When I decorate, I’m always drawn to green, what’s your go to colour?

Swipe to see a lovely illustration of the house, front and back. I can just imagine what a wonderful place it would’ve been when it was first built in 1869. It was first Home to Dr Frank Powel who was a military doctor in India, he had the house built in a colonial style. The views across the Wales reminded him of the Himalayan town of Simla.

It happened on Friday we completed on an our new project, a 2 bed apartment, me and mum collected the keys.

It’s going to be a bolt hole for visiting family and and Airbnb Inbetween, just down the road from us in our village.

It’s been a huge renovation for a local developer (luckily not us this time) the 150 year-old house has been split into apartments. Its been used as an old peoples home for the last 60 years and left empty for the last 6 or 7 unfortunately falling into terrible disrepair, most of the original features had disappeared over the years and all the woodwork had dry rot and had to be burnt…..so sad.

Now it’s been brought back to life, we have a 2 amazing floor to ceiling windows, and a beautiful view of the mature garden and the Welsh mountains in the distance.

We can’t wait to get stuck into the interior design!!!

I definitely found decorating the smallest spaces in the house most fun, you can really let loose and go a little bit crazy in a small space, and the worry of getting it wrong isn’t such an issue.

Our downstairs loo is still a breath of fresh air. It’s so lovely too see this bright pop of yellow and the 1950s magazine wallpaper is a real talking point. Everybody lingers in this here slightly longer than they need to because they’re having a good read.😂

Swipe to see some working progress pictures.

William Morris product placement!!

While I was in Birmingham on Saturday we popped into the cathedral to look at the stain glass windows by Pre-Raphaelite artist Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris.

The windows were cleaned, repaired and conserved in 2023 as part of the Divine Beauty Project, what a fantastic name!!

If you swipe to the last photograph, you can see some very familiar William Morris pattern on Jesus’s loincloth. William Morris added quite few of his textile designs onto the stain glass. Very clever product placement from the 1890’s.

Slightly gruesome fact; Did you know there are over 60,000 people buried in St Phillips graveyard.

Spring creeping in has inspired me to get back in the kitchen. I love cooking but have to be in the mood.

Caramelised leak and asparagus tarte, and a simple tomato and rocket salad. I’m definitely dreaming of evenings sat in the garden eating delicious food. Swipe to see the recipe that I took inspiration from.

What’s your go to Saturday evening dish?
