A subkick is one the great solution on kick recordings. It will allow you to get wider and more solid low end when you blend it with your standart kick mic. You can build it yourself, so simple.
Grab a 6.5 inch driver/woofer. Preferably 8inch may be used.
Wire it to a XLR cable. Convert the poles. And take it to your audio interface.
Sometimes you may need to convert the phase while recording or after the record.
And blend it.
