TIGERSIDE LIVE AT THE EAGLE 4th May 2024.
Modern-retro, techno electro, krout-rock, cyber-soul, sonic-blippy, plastic fantastic fun ! A cheeky wink to Madchester.
No thespian theatrics but high-octane natural energy. An upbeat multimedia audio visual immersive experience. A technicolour sensory backdrop reflected the colourful band who blew the audience away with good vibes.
Kraftwork, Tangerine dream, Happy Mondays, Shallama, Shack attack, Hooky, Eno, Massive attack, Grand funk railroad, Sparks,Bowie’s sound and vision, The Beloved, mock turtles, all mixed up in a pot with Frank Farrian and Chickory tip for good measure and you’d still need the secret ingredients to be added by Tigerside for a full fat coke.
Over driven shimmering guitar motifs from Paul Gregory that pan from left to right creating a Shoegazing undercurrent and bridging the gap between intelligent pop, alt rock and dance.
Riven Seamarks strategically placed polyphonic keyboard parts provide additional ear worms to the infectiously catchy body of work.
John Nash has an incredible voice and the right vocal for anthemic hooks. His unique qualities resonate with the audience. Esthor Maylor compliments Johns vocals with a subtle blend of vocal harmonies. Her style avoids instant categorisation but does bare the quality hallmarks of the late great Denise Williams of primal scream, Angie Brown and even tinges of Wendy Smith from Prefab sprout, during enigmatic intimate moments.
From the engine room David Eagle proves to provide a mighty fine myriad of pulses beats and street rhythms against supersonic synth/bass elements.
Key tracks for me Projection and La La samba.
The band seemed to enjoy themselves as much as the crowd enjoyed watching them. They made us all feel the force
of nature.
I got right into it
I’m going over to the Tigerside.
To find out more watch this space as Tigerside are coming to Louder than War radio soon. Miss it and Miss out.
Tamra Smith.
