10/10 for Pete Brileyâs new single âCopenhagenâ from Stargazer Music Magazine đ
As they put it:
âthis track further solidifies his place as one of the UKâs most forward-thinking and evocative solo artists.â
Hereâs the full review!
Pete Briley doesnât just break genre boundariesâhe rewrites them. Known as a fearless multi-instrumentalist with a restless creative spirit, Pete fuses Country, Rock, and Alternative into a sound thatâs very much his own: raw, instinctive, and constantly evolving. While many first discovered him through the high-octane swagger of The Outlaw Orchestraâsharing stages with the likes of The Darkness, Reef, and Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sonsâitâs in his solo work where the real magic happens. Here, Pete isn't just making musicâhe's crafting a world entirely on his terms.
His 2023 debut album made an immediate impact. From the BBC Music Introducing favourite "Elvis" to standouts like "Rhonda" and "Right Place, Wrong Time", the release showcased Peteâs gift for writing emotionally resonant, genre-fluid songs. Collaborations with Dane Campbell, Jonny Moody, Ryan Smith, and Nebojsa Pavlo added further depth.
Now, Pete returns with "Copenhagen," featured below, the fourth track from his upcoming second album. Written during a quiet moment at Copenhagen Airport amid a whirlwind year that included the Tokyo Marathon, SXSW, and a UK tour, the song captures the disorientation of constant motion. Produced with long-time collaborator Jonny Moody at Mood Market Studios, the track glows with sun-baked textures and Peteâs trademark lyrical honesty.
Accompanied by a video collage of tour footage and personal snapshots from Denmark, Sweden, Japan, and Texas, "Copenhagen" is as much a visual journey as it is a sonic one. With its cinematic scope and reflective undercurrent, Pete reminds us that sometimes the most poignant revelations happen between destinations.
In a recent interview, I asked him how the airport inspired the song, he told me:
"I realised I'd passed through that airport over a dozen times, but never stepped foot in the city itself. I was always just a ghostâpresent, but never rooted. It felt like life was racing past me, just like the song. That's when I knew it was time to let it go."
And that brings me nicely to the featured single - "Copenhagen."
A drifting sense of impermanence lies at the heart of this trackâa reflection on transience, missed moments, and the quiet ache of departure. Set against a backdrop of fleeting cityscapes and smoky afterthoughts, it captures the emotional pause between arrivals and goodbyes. There's a longing here, not for permanence, but for something to hold onto in motion. It's the sound of someone slipping through places and people, carrying only memory and the weight of whatâs unsaid. In all, this track further solidifies his place as one of the UKâs most forward-thinking and evocative solo artists.
To close, this single and forthcoming album wonât gather dust in any collection, and will keep heads bouncing and feet tapping from sofa to stage. So why not clear a space, and give Pete Briley a try for 2025.
