On Thursday, we welcomed teachers from Greater Manchester Colleges to The Sett in MediaCityUK for an exclusive look at our remote broadcast setup.

Throughout the day, we hosted insightful talks covering a range of topics, including cameras, engineering, and our talent pathway programme.

Attendees got hands-on experience with our cutting-edge Evs Broadcastsetup and explored our Haivision technology, including the Air320, Air380 and Pro460. Our broadcast engineer, Josh, also introduced teachers to the accessibility of modern broadcast technology, showcasing the latest Haivision innovations and a student-friendly app, called MoJoPro, that makes the industry more accessible than ever.

This past Saturday, we had the privilege of broadcasting live boxing action straight to VIP Boxing Promotions's platforms. A thrilling night of fights, captured and delivered to fans in real-time!

Utilising our Haivision Remote IP Technology, we only had minimal staff on location, while the rest stayed back at our MCR in MediaCityUK where they overlaid EVS replays and graphics.

During the night, the team experienced a power cut! But due to the team's great planning, the stream was unaffected!

On Saturday, the Badgers were on location in Leicester, working with the England and Wales Cricket Board to film the Rachel Heyhoe Flint Final. However, in typical English fashion, the weather had other plans, and the final was rained off. Congratulations to the Sunrisers on their win! 🏏

It did mark the end of our cricket season—a journey filled with unforgettable moments, new experiences, and great teamwork both on and off the pitch. Stay tuned for a season recap, and some exciting highlights we captured throughout the summer with Lancashire Cricket. More to come…

SME News is excited to announce that our popular Managing Director of the Year Awards are returning in 2024! After being introduced to our awards portfolio in 2022, this programme has gone from strength to strength and is now entering its third consecutive year!

From the 17th-27th June, Badger & Combes are working with the England Cricket to bring live coverage of the England Men’s Deaf vs India Men’s Deaf Cricket teams in their seven match test series across the 10 days, live onto their YouTube channel.

The teams will be travelling the country; Derby, Kidderminster, Northampton, Astwood and Leicester. To reduce costs, this production is remote, with only a small team of 4 Badgers travelling down to Operate Cameras and the rest of the team staying back at our home in Manchester. Our previous remote productions like the LancsTV Pre-Season tour in India (more information is on our profile if you haven’t seen) mean that our team are confident in our equipment and abilities to produce a high quality live stream. Commentated by the fantastic Daniel Whiting, Dan Jadzevics and Sam Dalling.

Today, we have our first T20 double header between the English and Indian teams in Kidderminster, before our team head back to Derby for the Charlotte Edward’s Cup finals day on Saturday.

This afternoon, our MD Colin McKevitt spoke on a Digital City Festival panel about the sectors' talent crisis.

The gap between academia and industry was the main focus of the session, with Jackson Armstrong, Professor Kirsty Fairclough, Philippa Childs, and Dr Sarah Haynes. They each gave their perspective of this gap, and highlighted the crucial need for collaborative efforts to bridge it.

At the event, we had two talent pathway badgers, who were camera operating throughout the day. To be able to provide young professionals the opportunities within the industry is something we are proud of as a business and a team. "If they will invest their time, then you have to invest your time into that talent too."

MediaCityUK Prolific North

Today we hosted the SRT Masterclass alongside Haivision and SRT Alliance at Emirates Old Trafford. Our Managing Director Colin McKevitt spoke on a panel, highlighting the brilliance of the Haivision kit, and how it has enhanced both our live and pre-recorded content. He even spoke about our recent project with Lancashire Cricket, where the Haivision hardware allowed us to be both cost-effective, as we sent only two Badgers and limited kit to India, and gave us the ability to live stream five games back to the rest of the team, 5,081 miles away, in Emirates Old Trafford.

He gave an insightful look into how we prepared for this project, and how we overcame issues that arose, such as loosing camera feeds.
