Music is so powerful, it moves us and expresses emotion in ways nothing else can. For me, that's what musical theatre does so well. It is storytelling through song, it is pure heart put into music.

🤩 Dalia Kay | 🤩

Dalia Kay (she/her) is a musical theatre performer and creative from Manchester. Dalia studied for her Masters in Musical Theatre at Leeds Conservatoire on their MA Musical Theatre Company Course back in 2022/2023. Whilst at Leeds Conservatoire, Dalia co-wrote a brand-new comedy The Weird Sisters, which made its Edinburgh Fringe Debut this summer with resounding success! Dalia is super excited to be making her pantomime debut this Christmas as The Garden Fairy in Jack and the Beanstalk with Forrest-Rose Productions at Playhouse 2 in Shaw. And for anybody intrigued by the magic of The Weird Sisters Musical... 🧙‍♀️

The Weird Sisters was created by Dalia Kay, Marie-Laure Corben and Eliza Waters whilst studying for their Master’s at Leeds Conservatoire. Brand-new comedy musical The Weird Sisters is centred around three wacky witch sisters who are desperate to expand the sisterhood! With female empowerment at its core, the punchy power-pop soundtrack guides audiences through an uplifting yet moving tale. The Weird Sisters made its Edinburgh Fringe debut this summer and received an incredible response with four stars from Broadway Baby and Playbill, alongside being chosen as Playbill’s pick of the Fringe!

In this edition of the Magic of Musicals show, we listen to some new, exciting musical theatre alongside epic power ballads. We also chat to local actor, , who has not only co-written her own musical, , but will be starring in a pantomime this Chritstmas here in North Manchester. We also give a very special mention to the creative learning department at Manchester's Palace Theatre () and the amazing events they facilitate, which host, , is also a part of. Jas Nisic (they/them) is a working-class and LGBTQIA+ Producer from Manchester. Trained originally in Musical Theatre from the Royal Academy of Music their work has been nominated for two consecutive OffFest awards and shortlisted for Best LGBTQIA+ production at Greater Manchester Fringe as well as being supported by Suerbia Q***r Arts and LBGT Foundation. Jas is loving their new role as Trainee Producer with Sheffield Theatres and Stage One, and is currently working on their all time favourite musical Little Shop of Horrors!

How brilliant was the interview with Jas?! 🤩 So insightful! And today's show generally was such a joyous vibe - hope you enjoyed too! 🥰

In this edition of The Magic of Musicals, we will enjoy some iconic tracks from much-loved Musical Theatre, from The Wizard of Oz to Annie the Musical, whilst rediscovering some underrated classics! We also hear from Harpurhey creative, Jas Nisic, who has had a fascinating journey into the performing arts industry, and now, theatre producing! Their interview provides insight into how to get started as a producer and which organisations can support you.
