Tomorrow I'm recording an episode I've wanted to do since the podcasts inception, Chronor Trigger!

A game that was excellent upon release and has only aged better with time, I've asked my guest to come up with his top 10 moments from the game, and just spent the last half hour trying to compile a list of my own!

Did I miss any? What are your top moments from this game? And what are your earliest memories of getting your hands on this instant classic?

This week on Game of Your Life, Tegan Marlow returns to the pod to talk about the modern classic: Super Mario Odyssey

We reminisce about the last time Tegan came in during a heatwave, cover the new show she's producing and see how much better her life is with a Nintendo Switch in the picture.

Then we get to the main event! Mario Odyssey! We go through the various kingdoms and the transformations available, what we thought of cappy and the whole 'capturing' gimmick, why is Bowser such a weird creep in this game? And so much more! Check it out, tell your friends, and watch us on YouTube!

What you been gaming on lately? For me it's been all about Octopath Traveller 2, the follow up to the first one, I didn't hear much anticipation for it but I adored the first and was hoping I'd get time to dig into this one

It's an interesting game, like the name suggests it follows 8 protagonists through their respective journeys as they band together and help each other through their missions. Its a beautiful throwback to the JRPGs from my childhood. The music score is more of the same, with the added nostalgia from the first game onctop of it. If you've ever seen the show life in pieces this is sort of the video game equivalent of that format. You'll do chapter 1 with a few characters, then leave them for a while and come back to their chapter 2 or 3 way later. They're all pretty engaging stories that manage to differentiate from one another and feel unique enough that 8 characters are warranted.

It's also a very fun game to play with a totally original combat system. The boss battles feel epic and are difficult and engaging.

On the negative end the voice acting is laughably repetitive and flat out bad. It feels like the entire cast (which is vast given there's 8 main characters with their own separate origins and people uniqu3 to them) was voiced by 4-5 people, deepening or lightening their tones to fit new people. It really is a negative the more I play and gets laughably bad when you meet your 'beastling' party member and she sounds the exact same as every other party member despite being raised in a forest by a Lion diety with the rest of the beastlings. Its bad.

The games also got major balancing issues as the characters you've already recruited feel massively overlevelled in most first chapter areas and the early battles are far too easy and just feel annoying as opposed to a fun part of the exploration. Over all these are pretty big issues that hold the game back from being really great, but it's still a beautiful throwback that I've found a lot of value in playing.

Have you played the first one? Playing the second one? If not, what are you playing? Lemme know in the comments

What are your spiciest / most controversial video game takes?

Four of mine:

-Bioshock infinite is the best bioshock and its not close
-Donkey Kong Country 3 trounces dkc1 and is nearly as good as dkc2
-Deus Ex: Human Revolution > Mass Effect 2
-Fallout 4 wasn't s**t (not as good as 3 or NV, but a good game overall)

May 12th is only a couple months away and for many this is the most anticipated release in a year full of giant releases!

I've played most Zelda games, and though I don't think I Revere them to the level of a lot of fans (cause Ocarina isn't my favorite N64 game and I don't have a triforce tattoo) but I've played pretty much every one and they always manage to deliver.

When I got my hands on Breath of the Wild I was pretty blown away. It felt like a perfect reintroduction to the standards of modern gaming while not losing anything that makes a Zelda game uniquely Zelda. So getting another one in the switch era feels huge.

Do you think it's going to differ a whole lot from BotW? I think back to how different Majora's Mask was to Ocarina and hope for the same sort of changes. Maybe even a slight different change in format. Who knows, but it will be a day one pick up for me for sure, what about you?
