Pick any one of them. It's gone up.

Sat in on my dad's hospital appointment today.
Doctor was brilliant. Thorough, kind, took his time.
Afterwards dad said "I didn't want to waste his time."
Seventy nine years old. Paid his taxes all his life. Still feels like he's imposing.
That breaks my heart a little. 😔🇬🇧

Lad who delivers my parcels knocked today. Not with a delivery.

Just checking in on my elderly neighbour.

Said he noticed her curtains were shut at noon and wanted to make sure she was alright.

She was fine. Made him a brew.

Never on any job description. Just a decent human being. 🙂🇬🇧

I visited last February.

Coat on indoors.
Heating off.
Still scrubbing her
own floor on
her hands and knees.

I said let me do that.

She shook her head.

"I've always kept
a clean house.
Not stopping now." 😔

38 years of
dignity and hard work.

Britain couldn't even
give her enough
to heat her home. 🇬🇧

Spotted a little girl in the park today teaching her grandad how to use his new phone.
She had the patience of a saint. He had the concentration of a man determined not to need help again.
Took about an hour.
Worth every minute by the looks of them both. 🙂🇬🇧

Old farmhouse down the lane sold last month.
Been in the same family since 1887. Death duties finished what a hundred years of farming couldn't.
New owners are turning it into holiday lets.
Another piece of something gone forever. 😔🇬🇧
