As of today, I am officially a qualified practising criminal barrister (trial lawyer) at the Bar of England & Wales 👨⚖️ 🥳 🙌
Words can’t describe the feeling of turning up to prosecute your first case, looking left and right before you realise you’re no longer a student in the classroom and it’s your case to run in the courtroom. It’s the first time you get to see what you’ve been working towards all these years finally come to fruition in an instant. Fortunately for me, someone captured that moment on camera and after seeing it I realised that I had that image in my head all these years as a young aspiring criminal lawyer which guided me through all the obstacles I met along the way to get here 🖼️
Pupillage is an incredibly steep learning curve which I was able to overcome thanks to my pupil supervisor Daniel James who deserves special thanks for being there every step of the way, anytime, any place, anywhere - I’m eternally grateful for your guidance, support and friendship. A big thanks to Jonathan Foy and the Crown Prosecution Service for giving me this opportunity. Also thank you to 5 King's Bench Walk and 2 Harcourt Buildings for offering me secondment opportunities during my first six as a pupil. Finally, to my wonder woman Vanessa R Hewitt for being with me through the highs and lows of the journey 🤍
Anyone interested in a career as a barrister I’ve set up a free community of like-minded aspiring barristers which you can access by visiting Legist Lab 🧪
I’m taking the weekend off to celebrate, before starting my new role as a Crown Advocate on Monday 👨⚖️
Congratulations to my fellow newly qualified barristers who will be appearing at Crown Courts across the country 🏛️
Thank you to everyone who has followed my journey and supported me along the way it means the world 🙏
