“Your voice matters” - This Diabetes Awareness Month

We’re championing the voices of young people with type 1 diabetes today.

We are taking this moment to reflect on our collaborative effort on a project we worked with and community organisations showing why it’s so important for young people from underrepresented communities to share their experiences in health research.

Diabetes research can’t happen without the help of people living with diabetes. By including lived experience, we can make care and treatments safer, fairer, and more effective for everyone.

Watch the film and join the conversation about representation in health research.

It’s Movember, a month dedicated to raising awareness and funds for men's health issues, including mental health and su***de prevention 👨🏻

According to Samaritans, 5717 su***des were registered in the UK in 2024, which is 61 more than in 2023.

To raise awareness of mental health during Movember, we wanted to take time to look back on our short film ‘The Frog in the Well’, which focuses on the character of Lewis, as his plans to end his own life are interrupted by a kindhearted stranger 🫶🏻

We knew this project was important when we made it, but upon release, we truly understood the gravity of the current climate, with men of all ages and backgrounds reaching out to articulate just how much the short resonated with them…

There’s always hope, and always someone who will listen ❤️

The film can be streamed on the Health Films TV YouTube channel today. Follow the link below 🔗

🎙️ IT’S A WRAP — AND WHAT AN INCREDIBLE JOURNEY! ❤️

Last week, we at Freshrb Health Media wrapped our biggest podcast series yet, shining a powerful spotlight on cardiovascular disease and heart health in Manchester.

WE ARE CALLING IT “CARDIO CONVERSATIONS”.

💔 Manchester has some of the highest rates of heart disease in the UK but the good news is, so much of it is preventable. Through early action, better diets, more movement, less stress, and quitting smoking, we can make small changes that create big, lasting impact.

This series brought together the heartbeat of Manchester’s health community in public health leaders, GPs, doctors, fitness pros, influencers, community champions, and people with real, lived experience of CVD. Everyone sharing their voices and stories to inspire change.

🙏 Massive thanks to our amazing guests:
Dr Cordelle Ofori FFPH • Dr Supritha Rao • Dr Aseem Mishra• Juliette Bucknor • nusrat acheampong

🎧 Co-hosts with heart:
Javeno Mclean • Samuel Kalejaye • Sandy Koujou from Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN) • Christina Muzariri

🎤 Anchored by:
Kondwani Chirwa • Oladamola Babalola

🎬 Huge shoutout to 80 Hertz Studios at The Sharp Project for the incredible studio space!

🕯️ Baby Loss Awareness Week 💗💙

It is okay to grieve, to rest, and to remember.

Every year, around 250,000 miscarriages occur in the UK - that’s 1 in 8 pregnancies. The probability of miscarriages is about 25% at 4 weeks, 5% at 8 weeks, 1.7% at 12 weeks, and 0.5% at 16 weeks.

Around 1 in 100 women will experience recurrent miscarriage (3 or more). Miscarriage is more than loss - it’s pain, grief, and guilt.

Behind every number is a family, a story, and love that doesn’t fade. Support groups, charities, and loved ones can help you find light again ( ) 🤍

‘Taylor’s Shadow’, our film addressing miscarriage, is available to stream on the Health Films SEP YouTube channel (Link in bio! 🔗)

We had a wonderful time at BIMM Manchester’s Fresher’s Fair yesterday, sharing our film festival with new BIMM, MET Film School, and Performers' College students 🎶🍿🩰

The response to our work and future goals was incredible, clearly displaying the need for health advocacy through cinema. It was fantastic to talk to, and demolish a whole box of celebrations with, so many passionate, young creatives!

Plenty of MHeFF stickers were handed out yesterday too, so keep your eyes peeled for them around the Manchester area, there are sure to be some appearing on laptops and notebooks very soon 👀

Thank you, BIMM! ❤️

A simple tip to get an audience to engage with your health campaigns and take a desired action toward better health is to start speaking to them as early as possible.

To have a well thought out and informed campaign that is based on real needs, you should always start from the niche community first. Don’t assume you know their needs until you have had grassroots conversations.

🤩 A new exciting service we now offer at is ‘Health Engagement Consultancy’ where we support in health promotion campaigns and public engagement with health research.

Get in touch with your health campaigns for further support from our expert team of marketer with lived health and long term conditions.
