WORLD ROAD RUNNING CHAMPS - Men's 5km

What a day for Eritrea with gold and bronze! 🇪🇷

Dawit Seare takes gold ahead of Jakob Ingebrigtsen, with Saymon Amanuel following in third.

Ethiopia’s Mezgebu led the surge with 1km to go, followed by Seare, but could not hold on. Jakob Ingebrigtsen then came from behind to overtake Seare, but the Eritrean found the energy for a final kick to cross the line first.

After winning the African title on the track in May, Seare is now a world champion on the road!

WORLD ROAD RUNNING CHAMPS - Women's 5km 🇪🇹 🇰🇪

Two global titles in one week: on the track in the 5000m at the Ultimate Championships, and now on the road in Copenhagen.

Likina Amebaw is the woman of the moment! The Ethiopian surged with 4km to go to shake off her last challenger, Kenya’s Caroline Makandi Gitonga, who took silver.

Long in third place, Ethiopia’s Aleshign Baweke faded in the final hundreds of metres, eventually finishing fifth. She was overtaken by Australia’s Rose Davies, who took bronze, and South Africa’s Tayla Kavanagh, who finished fourth in an international breakthrough for the South African, well known on the domestic scene.

WORLD ROAD RUNNING CHAMPS - Women's half marathon

🇰🇪 Total domination by Kenya’s Agnes Ngetich, who set a women-only half marathon world record of 1:05:15 in a solo race, improving the previous mark of 1:05:16 set by Peres Jepchirchir at the 2020 World Half Marathon Championships.

Kenya took the top two places, with Veronica Loleo finishing second in 1:06:05.

The Kenyan sweep was denied by Florence Niyonkuru, who claimed a historic bronze for Rwanda in a national record of 1:06:08.

Kenya also won the team title, ahead of the USA and Ethiopia.

WORLD ROAD RUNNING CHAMPS - Men's half marathon

🇰🇪 Silver for Kenya's Nicholas Kipkorir, who set a fast pace and led for much of the race, but couldn't resist Sweden's Andreas Almgren's finishing kick. Almgren won in a European record 58:06, while Kipkorir took silver in 58:11. It is Kipkorir's second World Road Running Championships medal, following his 5km bronze in 2023.

🇺🇬 Joshua Cheptegei brought bronze to Uganda in a personal best of 58:26, earning his 10th global individual senior medal: three at the Olympics, four at the World Championships, two at the World Cross Country Championships and now his first on the road.

Kenya dominated the team competition ahead of Ethiopia and the United States.
