Budapest Pride is officially back - and the strongman who spent years trying to crush it just got crushed at the ballot box.

Police in the Hungarian capital have approved the parade to march again this June. With Viktor OrbĂĄn out of power, there are simply no grounds left to stop it.

OrbĂĄn ran Hungary for 16 years on a hard-right, anti-LGBTQ+ playbook, and last year his government banned Pride outright - even authorizing facial-recognition cameras to identify anyone who showed up.

Roughly 200,000 people showed up anyway, in the largest Pride the country had ever seen. Budapest's mayor, Gergely KarĂĄcsony, rebranded it as a "municipal event" to dodge the ban and got dragged into court for it. His take: "I have gone from being a proud suspect to a proud defendant."

This April, Orbán lost in a landslide. The European Union has started releasing the €16 billion it had frozen over his human rights record. And Pride is free to march - no workaround, no loophole, no court case hanging over anyone.

"Freedom and love cannot be banned," KarĂĄcsony said when the approval came through.

Daniel Radcliffe has once again reaffirmed his public support for the tr*nsgender community while addressing the continuing controversy surrounding comments made by J. K. Rowling.

The Harry Potter star stressed that tr*ns women are women and argued that denying people’s identities can cause real emotional harm to a community already facing discrimination, hostility, and social pressure.

Radcliffe explained that his position comes from empathy and allyship rather than personal conflict, encouraging people to approach conversations about gender identity with humanity, respect, and compassion.

He has also continued supporting organizations like The Trevor Project, which focuses on crisis intervention and mental health support for LGBTQ+ youth.

For many supporters, Radcliffe’s continued advocacy stands out because he has consistently used his platform to reassure marginalized people that they are seen, respected, and valued, even amid highly polarized public debates surrounding gender identity and inclusion.
