On July 3, 2025, Skepta posted on X that he wanted to settle the debate over UK vs US rap in the booth. He called on any American rapper to step up to the challenge. Joyner Lucas then replied almost immeaditly: “The moment I’ve been waiting for… say the word, Joyner Lucas vs . .” This is what officially kickstarted the feud. The 2 artist Public back-and-forth continued via tweets and Instagram posts, hyping the clash as a transatlantic rap showdown.
Skepta took the first opportunity to fire shots at Joyner with his track “Friendly Fire,”. Skepta showcases his artful disses without explicitly naming Joyner. It was widely seen as the spark for the feud Building tension in the HipHop culture world wide.
2 days later, Joyner response track “Nobody Cares” targets Skepta directly, accusing him of being irrelevant in the U.S. music scene and mocking him for wanting to take his buzz.
Only 2 days later, Skepta came back firing with “Round 2.” His retaliation branded Joyner’s first diss track effort as weak, he ridiculed Joyner’s decision to pose royally with a UK flag mask, and accused him of using the clash to promote “ADHD 2”.
Joyner returned with “Round 2 K.O.,” delivering sharper bars and criticizing Skepta’s stylistic borrowing from ASAP Rocky and his trajectory in grime. Reactions were mixed - some praised his punchlines, but others doubted it landed hard enough.
Skepta’s latest send, “Junior’s Law,” was released on July 29th. This diss must of hit home for Joyner as it is a more intense and personal diss, which includes explosive allegations referencing Joyner and 6ix9ine in one verse. A Reddit user response emphasizes this as Skepta’s best effort in the feud “Skepta went hard on this. I love the venom this track had! I love how he keeps correcting Joyner like when he reiterated that he didn’t call him the black Eminem but the black Stan.”
With all this being said, who do you think is going to take the crown for this UK vs US beef?
