Anglo-Norman Text Society A learned society promoting the study of Anglo-Norman language and literature

The Anglo-Norman Text Society is a learned society which was founded by Professor Mildred K. Pope in 1937 with the aim of promoting the study of Anglo-Norman by publishing a series of texts of literary, linguistic, historical and legal value and interest. For more than sixty years now, its series of annual publications (supplemented since 1983 with a Plain Texts Series and an Occasional Publicatio

ns Series) has succeeded in making available to specialist scholars and other medievalists a broad range of editions of Anglo-Norman texts. The joint publication (with the Modern Humanities Research Association) of an Anglo-Norman Dictionary, first initiated by Louise Stone in 1945, was completed in 1992. A revised edition of A - E of this, under the general editorship of William Rothwell, can, since 2006, be consulted online at http://www.anglo-norman.net/
