WWE’s Plans for Seth Rollins to Cash In At SummerSlam Revealed

Seth Rollins showing up on crutches may have convinced casual fans, but for everyone else, it screamed setup. Now, thanks to a backstage update, that’s no longer a theory—it was the plan all along.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, confirmed what many fans have been suspecting ever since Rollins appeared hurt after his match with LA Knight: the injury is part of WWE’s storyline heading into their two-night SummerSlam event. And Rollins is still expected to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase on the winner of CM Punk vs. Gunther.

“The reason they did everything—OK, again, this is interesting because the plan was always to do the injury to Seth Rollins at Saturday Night’s Main Event. You think he’s hurt badly, he’s gone, and then he surprises everyone, cashes in on the Gunther–Punk winner—which is probably Punk, right? That’s the one he’s always screwing with. Then he ends up the champion.”

The idea? Let Punk win gold only to have it ripped away seconds later.

“So Punk gets the title and then loses it in seconds. I figure that’s how it’s going down. I can’t imagine him not winding up with the championship and then telling everyone it was a ruse and he worked everybody. And actually… I thought that was quite brilliant.”

And even though fans online cracked the code early, said WWE still hasn’t wavered from the plan.now.’ Like and comment about it

WWE Could Move Survivor Series Off Thanksgiving Weekend Amid Saudi Arabia Expansion

WWE’s relationship with Saudi Arabia is heating up—and it might come at the expense of one of the company’s longest-standing traditions. WWE is planning three premium live events in Saudi Arabia for 2026, and the new schedule is already sparking major questions about the future of Survivor Series.

Sean Ross Sapp broke it down during the latest Fightful Report, revealing that while WWE is only running one Saudi event in 2025, next year’s calendar tells a much different story.

“WWE has finished their 2025 schedule in Saudi Arabia, which is one event this year. But Fightful Select had some big news on the future of WWE in Saudi Arabia—not just the Royal Rumble in January. As of now, WWE is slated for three events in Saudi, with the tentative schedule being May and November in addition to that January Royal Rumble date.”

That November date has everyone wondering whether Survivor Series, typically held Thanksgiving weekend, will be moved—or replaced entirely.

“Now November would lead a lot of people to naturally assume, insinuate, speculate that Survivor Series could be on the slate. Now the last three years, WWE has done Thanksgiving weekend for Survivor Series and I spoke to a higher up who wouldn’t confirm the schedule or event with me, but I did confirm it with those in Saudi Arabia.”

Sapp explained that while no official announcement has been made, one thing seems certain—the event isn’t happening over Thanksgiving weekend in Saudi Arabia.

“However, the higher up said, ‘Well, it’s not going to be Thanksgiving weekend in Saudi Arabia.’ So one of two things will happen—either it’ll be a completely different event, or they will move Survivor Series off of Thanksgiving weekend in order to, you know, give talent more time with their families and stuff like that.”

Survivor Series has been a Thanksgiving tradition for decades, with the event often tied to the holiday weekend in the U.S. But WWE’s ongoing expansion into the Saudi market looks set to shake up that legacy.

What’s your take—should WWE stick to tradition and keep Survivor Series on Thanksgiving weekend, or is it time to mix things up? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.

HUGE Update on WWE NXT’s UFC APEX Residency Plan Moving Forward With Cost-Cutting Strategy in Mind

The rumors about WWE NXT locking in a residency at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas are gaining momentum—and the move is shaping up to be a game-changer for the future of the brand and TKO’s live event strategy.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed that the plan is indeed on the table, adding new details about why this residency makes so much business sense for WWE and TKO.

“There have been reports that NXT will do a residency at the UFC APEX. The idea is that the building would host major NXT events, which will enable the company to do them less expensively than taking them to major arenas, and also open up a second training site in Las Vegas.”

The cost-cutting benefit is a major factor here. By using the UFC APEX—a facility already controlled by TKO—WWE can avoid third-party venue fees, eliminate touring expenses, and create a controlled, streamlined environment for NXT’s biggest shows.

Beyond just saving money, the APEX gives WWE a second training site alongside the Orlando Performance Center, expanding its developmental footprint on the West Coast. The Las Vegas facility also positions TKO to maximize its NIL athlete pipeline, turning the APEX into a central hub for future stars from both WWE and UFC.

NXT Battleground 2024 proved the model works, with tickets selling fast and the production running smoothly. Now, it looks like the residency is no longer just an experiment—it’s part of the long-term blueprint.

Do you think NXT belongs at the APEX for good? Or should WWE’s developmental brand stay on the road? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.now.’ Like and comment about it

Drew McIntyre’s WWE Return “Not Imminent” as Injury Recovery Drags On

It looks like Drew McIntyre’s absence from WWE TV isn’t ending anytime soon.

During the latest WrestleVotes Q&A on WrestleBinge, it was confirmed that there are currently no plans for McIntyre’s return, leaving the former WWE Champion on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.

“Nothing on the pipeline recently, which tells me it’s not imminent. When he’s ready, if I was booking, I’d put him right on the top. I think the guy deserves it and you could tell, when he’s not on TV, like as of late, the show is lacking a little bit. So, when he’s ready, you put him right back in that main event scene.”

McIntyre has been off WWE programming since his brutal steel cage match against Damian Priest at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24. The match ended with Priest delivering a sickening Con-Chair-To before casually walking out the cage, leaving McIntyre motionless in the ring.

While there was early speculation that McIntyre’s time away could be linked to a Hollywood project, that’s not the case. His absence is strictly due to injury and personal time away from the grind of WWE.

In an interview with Jay Reddick of the Orlando Sentinel, McIntyre pulled back the curtain on just how banged up he’s been.

“I can’t turn my head all the way left yet,” he admitted, confirming that the recovery process is still ongoing.

McIntyre added that pushing through pain is nothing new for him—but this time, he’s listening to his body.

“Working hurt is just what happens if you’re an athlete, especially as the years go by. If you’re injured, it is something to take care of. Maybe back in the day, we would have taped it up and gone with it. In the past, I have worked with muscle tears and breaks, which isn’t the most sensible thing, but the way we operate now, you want to last for the long run.”

With WWE’s product noticeably missing a top-tier player like McIntyre, fans are hopeful he’ll be back sooner rather than later—but as of now, it doesn’t look like that return is happening anytime soon.

WWE Signed R-Truth to Unique Contract Ahead of Surprise Money in the Bank Return

R-Truth—now appearing under his real name, Ron Killings—is officially back in WWE, and new details have emerged about the nature of his contract.

According to Cory Hayes of Bodyslam.net, the new agreement was finalized sometime on Friday, just ahead of the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event. Hayes noted that this is “not a normal active working talent deal” but one that “gives him the opportunity for one true final run.”

“PWInsider.com reported that the decision to bring Killings back happened over the last 72 hours which I was informed by a source that the new deal came together sometime on Friday,” Hayes wrote. “This new deal isn’t a normal active working talent deal but it gives him the opportunity for one true final run.”

Triple H was asked about Killings’ return during the Money in the Bank post-show media scrum, and responded with a vague remark:

London Mayor Sadiq Khan Pleads with Triple H to Bring WrestleMania to the UK

Sadiq Khan is putting WWE on notice—he wants WrestleMania in London, and he’s not shy about calling out Triple H to make it happen.

During the ‘Opening Remarks – Welcome to SXSW London’ panel on June 2, 2025, Khan made a direct appeal to WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque while speaking with CNBC’s Tania Bryer. The London mayor made it clear that he believes the company’s biggest show of the year is destined for more—and the next logical step is across the Atlantic.

Khan previously met with Triple H and WWE President Nick Khan in 2024 to pitch the idea, and his enthusiasm clearly hasn’t cooled.

Speaking to the live crowd, Khan looked straight into the camera and said:

“I’d love for WrestleMania to come to London. Triple H, if you’re watching, we want WrestleMania to come to London.”

He went on to pitch an all-out spectacle, not just a one-night affair.

“If WrestleMania came to London, my message to the team there is that we wouldn’t just have a great weekend, we’d have a festival, of you know, legends in WrestleMania coming to London, current stars, but also future stars as well. It will open a completely new market for them as well.”

Khan believes the show has even more potential left untapped.

“I think the potential has not been reached in terms of WrestleMania. We are the sporting capital — in my view — of the world. And if WrestleMania wants to expand, the obvious place to come is London.”

WrestleMania 42 was originally announced for New Orleans, but WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H recently confirmed that the city will no longer host the 2026 event. With the location now uncertain, Khan’s public plea may come at just the right time.

Sadiq Khan is playing hardball to bring WrestleMania to London—and with WWE’s global reach bigger than ever, the ball may now be in Triple H’s court.

Should WWE finally take Wrestle Mania overseas? Would London be the right choice or should another city get the nod? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
