Gondwana Records is a Manchester-based independent record label drawing on global inspirations.

Founded by Matthew Halsall in 2008, Gondwana Records has gone on to release music by Allysha Joy, Caoilfhionn Rose, Chip Wickham, Dwight Trible, Forgiveness, GoGo Penguin, Hania Rani, Jasmine Myra, John Ellis, Mammal Hands, Halsall, Nat Birchall, Noya Rao, Paradise Cinema, Phil France, Phi-Psonics, Portico Quartet, STUFF., Sunda Arc, Svaneborg Kardyb and Vega Trails.

We’ve partnered with Brick Lane Jazz Festival to celebrate the festival’s launch on 25th March 2027 with a special Gondwana Records Presents event at 93 Feet East, London.

For this specially curated lineup, you’ll have the opportunity to experience Phi-Psonics, the deeply soulful ensemble from Los Angeles. Led by bassist Seth Ford-Young, the band’s lineup on the night features Sylvain Carton (saxophone/flutes), Bruno Heinen (keyboards), Jon Scott (drums) and Chip Wickham (saxophone/flutes).

Gondwana Records’ latest signing, Rory Green, will also join the lineup, bringing his expansive and emotive compositions to the stage. He’ll be performing music from his debut album, Moments Brighter Than The Sun.

Gondwana’s own DJ and tastemaker Mari* will be joining us on the night, spinning uplifting sounds from Gondwana Records and beyond.

On Ep. 33 of our podcast, Jack Wyllie discusses his debut album, Eternal Spring, and the experience of releasing music under his own name.

Jack explores the album’s inspirations, from family to nature. He talks about working with strings, inviting Portico Quartet bandmates onto the record, and experimenting with playing styles and rare instruments.

We’re looking forward to Jasmine Myra’s show at Earth Theatre on the 28th of this month, and now there’s even more reason to join us!

Manchester-based guitarist and composer Rory Green has just been added to the bill, supporting with a solo set on the night. He’ll be sharing songs from his new album Moments Brighter Than The Sun, giving you a chance to hear them live for the first time.

Jasmine will be accompanied by strings, performing songs from her new album Where Light Settles. It will be a very special evening of music.

We’re very happy to be returning to GRETCHEN, Berlin for another Gondwana Records Presents event in 2027.

We’re delighted to announce that Phi-Psonics will join our Gondwana Records Presents lineup at Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. The immersive group from Los Angeles will be part of this specially curated bill, unfolding in one of Europe’s most extraordinary concert halls.

Led by bassist Seth Ford-Young, their lineup on the night will feature Sylvain Carton (saxophone / flutes), Bruno Heinen (keyboards) and Jon Scott (drums) and our very own Chip Wickham (saxophone / flutes),

Alongside the exciting announcement of new signing Rory Green's debut album, Moments Brighter Than The Sun, we’re thrilled to share a run of shows where you can hear songs from the album live for the very first time.

Rory will support GoGo Penguin for two nights at Koko on 16th and 17th November as part of London Jazz Festival. Then in December, he heads north for a special date at YES, before travelling across continents to Seoul.

We hope you’ll have the opportunity to experience Rory’s luminous music live for yourself.

We’re delighted to announce the debut album from Manchester-based composer and guitarist Rory Green, Moments Brighter Than The Sun, released on 20th November.

Co-produced by Matthew Halsall, Moments Brighter Than The Sun is a harmonic exercise in togetherness from an artist who could otherwise have simply organised the music around his spectacular guitar playing.

Rory shares: "Moments Brighter Than The Sun is something I had in my mind for years with this intention, the title itself was to serve as a reminder to myself to sometimes lift my head up and observe what's around me.

A sonic landscape where I can really go to and reflect. For me, it's become a way for me to be able to reset when I find myself getting too caught up in the smaller details in life and sometimes need to be able to take a step back and observe the bigger picture."
