Admittedly, it’s been challenged in recent years because of poor distribution but those issues have been addressed and now, with the effervescent Chris Kamara as the face of a new PR and advertising blitz, watch it go: the former professional footballer and manager is a much-loved figure who currently co-presents the ITV television show Ninja Warrior....

Single-Use Cup Levy in Scotland – Industry Voices Heard

The Scottish Government has released its analysis of responses to the public consultation on introducing a charge for single-use beverage cups. We’re pleased to see the AVA—and our members—referenced throughout the report, particularly regarding Question 6 on exemptions for vending.

Thanks to all AVA members who responded. Your contributions have made an impact.

The AVA continues to represent the industry as a member of the Single-Use Disposable Cups Charge Advisory Group, ensuring vending is part of the conversation. While it’s clear the charge is progressing, no legislative action will take place until after the Scottish elections in May 2026.

We’ll keep members informed as the situation develops.
