Taste Today was established in 2013 by its Editor, Jo Cooksey, who having been a freelance food writer previously, decided to set up her own website to cover the stories she was interested in personally. She and her team source content in the UK, particularly the North West of England and wherever their foreign travels take them. Taste Today has collaborated with many well-known brands, both in the UK and abroad.

GREAT LUNCH SPOTS A couple of Saturdays ago we went to in Salford, right near the University. It’s a bakery, coffee shop, cafe, brewery and live music venue. The food and service were great and the prices very reasonable. We bought some sourdough loaves to take home too. If you are in the area definitely one not to miss. We paid for our purchases. Not gifted.

Yesterday we went to Gladstone Barber & Bistro to celebrate my birthday. Service can be incredibly slow but the food and surroundings are fab and quirky and the staff are lovely.

However, they now have a DJ on during the day on a Saturday. The room isn’t the biggest and the volume was cranked up to 11. We couldn’t have a conversation. We couldn’t hear the staff. We had to communicate via sign language and writing things on our phones. Myself, my daughter and her partner are all neurodivergent, so had to put our Loop earplugs in to try and mitigate overstimulation. It was a great playlist but if you want to talk to your lunchmates I’d swerve Saturdays.

The food was amazing as usual.

Finally got to Six by Nico Manchester. The Neverland Menu was delightful. Packed with flavours and textures. For me, the best courses were Food Fight and Baked Mammee Apple Custard. Heaven.

Took ourselves off to Maray in Manchester yesterday. For anyone who loves Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food this restaurant is a must visit. It was so good and the hummus was honestly the best we’ve ever had. The service and atmosphere were fabulous.
