The Full Story of Every Prison Incident Involving Ian Huntley including the 2025 “Blinding”
If you’ve been online lately, you’ll know there’s one question everyone is asking about Ian Huntley… but before we get to that, here’s every single confirmed thing that’s happened to him behind bars, going right back to the very beginning.
Most people don’t realise how long the list actually is.
⸻
🔹 2003 – The First Major Incident (Woodhill Prison)
Before any attacks from other inmates, Huntley was already making headlines.
While on remand in June 2003, he took an overdose of around 29 antidepressant pills, which he’d hidden in teabags.
He survived, but it set the tone for the years that followed.
⸻
🔹 2004 – The First Recorded Assault (Belmarsh Prison)
Fast forward to February 2004.
Huntley is attacked for the first time by another inmate — punched in the face while playing cards.
He walked away with minor bruising, but it made national news within hours.
This was the moment the public realised what awaited him in the prison system.
⸻
🔹 2005 – Boiling Water Attack (Wakefield Prison)
Things escalated quickly.
In September 2005, at the notorious HMP Wakefield, Huntley had boiling water thrown over him by another prisoner — believed to be killer Mark Hobson.
He suffered serious scalding and required medical treatment in the prison’s health unit.
He later tried to claim £15,000 in compensation for this attack — and although he received legal aid to pursue it, there is no confirmed public record that he ever received the full payout he wanted.
⸻
🔹 2010 – Throat Slashed (Frankland Prison)
One of the most violent incidents came in March 2010, inside Frankland Prison, County Durham.
Inmate Damien Fowkes slashed Huntley’s throat using a razor blade fused onto a plastic handle.
The wound was 7 inches long, requiring 21 stitches to close.
Fowkes later said to staff:
“Is he dead? … I wish I had.”
The attack wasn’t fatal.
Fowkes received a life sentence with a minimum 20 years added on for the attempted murder.
Huntley then attempted to sue the Prison Service for around £100,000 — but government officials publicly stated they would fight the claim.
Again, there is no reliable evidence that Huntley received such a payout.

🔹 Later Context – The Attacker Gets Attacked
Years later, Huntley’s attacker, Damien Fowkes, was himself targeted in another prison.
This detail kept the story alive in the media, adding another layer to the long chain of prison violence connected to Huntley.

And now… the part everyone has been asking about.
🔹 The 2025 Rumour – “Was Ian Huntley Blinded in Prison?”
In November 2025, social-media posts began circulating claiming that Huntley had been stabbed in the eyes or had both eyes permanently damaged, leaving him blind.
These posts went viral fast — especially on TikTok, Reddit, and Facebook crime groups.
But here’s the truth:
👉 No mainstream news outlet, no official prison source, and no reputable journalist has confirmed any attack on Ian Huntley in 2025.
👉 There is zero verified evidence that he was blinded, stabbed in the eyes, or permanently injured in such a way.
👉 So far, the story appears to be just a rumour, likely fuelled by social media.
If that ever changes, VRV900 will be first to report it — but right now, there is no confirmed attack on Ian Huntley after 2010.
