We’ve officially begun rigging at this year’s National Eisteddfod, and the site is already buzzing with activity! This marks an incredible 38th year on the job for our very own Darren, whose experience and dedication continue to shine through every summer.

Pictured here is Sinbad expertly handling his JCB as we lay the groundwork for what promises to be another spectacular event.

We’ll be sharing more soon—once the stages are up and the lights start to bring the site to life. For now, enjoy this sneak peek behind the scenes!

We were happy to return to the iconic Hackney Empire to support the ITV Soap Awards, working alongside lighting designer Nigel Catmur and set designer Peter Bingemann.

The show’s signature illuminated ‘S’ once again took centre stage, with set electrics and bulbs provided by our friends at Electric Foundry. Our team supplied lighting for both the main auditorium and the glamorous ‘red carpet’—a glittering gold runway laid out inside Hackney Town Hall in true Soap Awards style.

Inside the theatre, we provided a range of fixtures including MAC Aura XBs, ETC ColourSource Pars, MAC Encore Performances, and the Astra panel—carried by George during the broadcast alongside presenter Jane McDonald.

Over at Hackney Town Hall, we installed a truss goalpost to support ARRI S60s and S30s, ensuring bright, even lighting for press photographers, vloggers and YouTubers. We also used 32 Astera AX5s to beautifully light the venue’s drapes.

A big thank you to our fantastic crew: Sinbad (Gaffer), Colin Monk, Pete Bradbury, Emma Perry, George Thruston and Dan Marsh. Front-of-house, Nigel was supported by Tom Young on the MA.

A huge thank you to everyone who made Showlight Quadrennial 2025 such a memorable event! From inspiring talks to incredible connections, it was a week to remember.

We especially liked the sessions exploring lighting design for the Olympic Games 2024, the complexities behind Complicated Shots in film, the paradoxes of Schrödinger’s Dimmer: Controlling the Uncontrollable — and more.

We're already looking forward to coming back in four years — see you then!

It was an honour to supply the lighting rig for the BBC Studio at St James’s Park, as part of their poignant commemoration of the 80th anniversary marking the end of the Second World War in Europe.

Sophie Raworth was joined by special guests who shared powerful reflections on their wartime experiences.

We were also proud to supply the full lighting rig for the broadcast of Westminster Abbey service.
Collaborating with Lighting Designer Nigel Catmur on both St James’s Park studio and Westminster Abbey.

On-site, we worked with Lighting Director Darren Lovell at St James’s Park Studio and Lighting Director David Bishop at Westminster Abbey.

A big thank you and well done to everyone involved in bringing these important broadcasts to life.
