These are some of my favourite pages in Meet Teddy, I’m sure many of you cat owners will recognise these behaviours 🤣🫣

I wrote and illustrated this book while facing one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced in a long time. Earlier this year I was involved in a car accident that knocked me completely sideways, physically and mentally.

Everything felt difficult from the moment I opened my eyes each day and creativity felt like something that belonged to a different version of me.

But it is actually this creativity that is healing me. 🩹

Dreaming up Teddy’s adventures, giggling to myself about the chaos he causes, picturing every ridiculous moment, all with a fluffy little fellow lying beside me making absolutely sure I rested. 💖

Meet Teddy is funny and warm and perfect for little ones. But it is also a little piece of my recovery and that makes it incredibly precious to me.💎

And this is just the beginning of his story. Teddy’s World, hoped for later this year, will follow Teddy as he ventures out and meets all kinds of people, children and adults, each with their own unique and wonderful way of experiencing the world. Hidden disabilities, different perspectives, all told through the eyes of one very nosy, very fluffy cat.

Behind the scenes at Beyond Words Creative… 💬🌈

You might have noticed we’ve been a little quieter lately…and that’s because, before anything else, I’m a SEN mum. 💛

This summer has brought big transitions, unexpected illnesses, and those precious, slow moments that matter most. I’ve chosen to honour that. Because changing the world starts with making life as beautiful as possible for my own children first.

But don’t mistake the quiet for inactivity. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes and it’s growing faster than ever.

What started as a story for my non-verbal son has become a movement for inclusion, awareness, and real change in schools, nurseries, and homes. And now? It’s bigger than one person can manage, so it’s officially a family business. Layla has joined the team to help, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’re building together.

We’re just getting started, and the best is still to come.
