HMS Bronington is a former Ton-class minesweeper and minehunter located at Vittoria Dock in Birkenhead, England. Decommissioned in 1988 after thirty years of active naval service, the vessel sank at her moorings in 2016 and lists to her starboard side.

Constructed with a mahogany hull over an aluminium frame, the vessel measures 46.33 metres in overall length. Two Paxman Deltic diesel engines powered the ship to a maximum speed of 16 knots, carrying a 40 mm Bofors gun and Type 193 minehunting sonar.

Cook, Welton & Gemmell built the vessel in Yorkshire, launching her in March 1953. Conversion to a minehunter took place at Rosyth Dockyard between 1963 and 1965. King Charles III commanded the ship for ten months in 1976.

The vessel operated as a museum at Salford Quays before relocating to Birkenhead in 2002. The museum closed in 2006, and neglect led to her sinking. A charity, the HMS Bronington Preservation Trust, is working hard to secure funding for restoration.

The ruins of a Buzludzha, a communist monument perched atop an icy mountain in Bulgaria.

I was lucky enough to visit before work began and photograph it in its abandoned state. The climb in was very dangerous; I almost gave up but was so pleased I conquered my fears!

She served her country for over thirty years before decommission. While awaiting restoration, the vessel sank at her moorings and now lists dramatically to her starboard side.
