sprinkle of margate magic ✨
i was so anxious on tuesday.
as i set up for “old dawgs new cliques”
that nobody would show up.
that my little plan to plough through
the thanet volunteer deficit.
would fail miserably.
i needn’t have worried.
because margate came through.
there were a couple of points.
where i scanned Lowlife Margate.
and every table. every seat.
was full of forms being filled.
pen to paper. promise and purpose.
we ran out of application forms.
within forty minutes.
you lot really did the damn thing.
i want to say a heartfelt thank you.
to everyone who passed through.
to Rob Yates who funded.
to ✿ 𝓔𝓵𝓲𝔃𝓪𝓫𝓮𝓽𝓱 ♥ᴥ♥ ✿ for the footage.
to Lowlife Margate for the space.
and to the babes at Kent Coast Volunteering.
who trusted me with this task.
because we fu***ng did IT.
it being more applications.
in two hours.
than are submitted in a year.
it being TWENTY TWO sign ups.
to support our elders and vulnerable.
22 less people left lonely.
i’m proud of us margate.
and my den is too.

celebrating its double figures.
everyone told me.
it’s outrageously spesh.
but nothing prepared me.
for the joy.
the unity.
the silliness.
the community.
the kindness.
the scale.
the campness.
the unwaveringly margate-ness.
proud to walk alongside.
my q***r and trans fam.
to celebrate and commiserate.
our CAMP’s final day.
an entire day of singing and smiles.
dutty dancing.
deep and meaningfuls.
building on bonds.
forging new friendships.
but most importantly.
a whole lot of fu***ng love.

i have not been able.
to listen to any .
with getting goosebumps.
or my eyeballs getting watery.
since last summer’s gigs.
heaton park was other worldly.
but being in my home town.
with my sibbos in standing.
and parentals in seats.
screaming the lyrics.
to songs we have shared.
our entire lives.
into each others faces.
it just hit different.
forever grateful i got to.
experience these moments.
best days. best people. best band.
