CHANGING THE GUARD
IT IS NEW YEAR’S EVE
REMINISCING
MY mind’s at ease; really?
The New Year; a relief?
I shall abandon old shoddiness
Those posing shadows; gawking crows
Clouds from wars, suffering and poverty
HESITANTLY
Fear fill me, like flinching spears
Quarels, froths from age-old feuds
News-cast-sprays like depraved spews
Cultural beliefs that skews and twists
Confounded years; stupendous legacy
ANTICIPATION
Shall I accept; world-weariness
Ever evade hope, futuristic promises
Obliterate impending hope, belief and ingenuity
Abolish inspiration, elucidations and courage
Yester year’s shortcomings not to ferment my future
ACCEPTANCE
My new world will shadow the past
Yester yields will shape my future crops
My dreams of the deep-deep night
Will silhouette the memoirs of my new morn
Today’s endeavours will deliver my new-life
MY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU
Peruse your new prologues,
Pamper the precious past pearls
Challenge the new-years journey
Make 2024 the budding flower
Of your New Year flower-shower
